Animal lover, Zoey Pappas leaves the rat race of Seattle to move to the small town of Leavenworth, Washington to open her new grooming salon, Puppy Dooz. Having given up her former dream of acting, she is miffed when her cat, Sofie, is constantly pursued by a theater cat named Valentino. Especially, when his owner, Dawson, runs The Backstage Theater playhouse in town and wants Zoey to audition as his leading lady in the Jane Austen production of Persuasion. Zoey turns him down flat. Come for opening night and find out how a chivalrous cat, a rat named Sir Galahad, and handsome Captain Wentworth, all worked together to Purr-suade Zoey otherwise.

The narration by Izzy Risoni was enjoyable. Ms. Risoni delivered an excellent vocal performance showing her wide range with this fun cast of characters. The production quality of this audiobook is also of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Renee Riva delivered an excellent audiobook production. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I highly recommend this audiobook.

This is perhaps the most charming Jane Austen adaptation/tribute that I have ever read in my life. And I have been a lifelong fan of Jane’s work, most especially Persuasion. This was such a lovely take on the novel, with two characters who are drawn to each other and only want the best for each other. They are firm in their faith in our Creator’s plan for us all in life, and that helps guide them to their HEA. 💕
There are the usual Jane Austen-style misunderstandings and characters who do not read the signs when they’re right there in front of them. And they are kitties! (Puppies too!). Zooey’s vixen of a cat named Sofie immediately attracts the attention of Zack’s cat, appropriately named Valentino!
The h/H strike up a charming relationship where Zach is able to bring our heroine, Zooey, out of her shell, as she has been somewhat shy and hidden herself away from the world, and not utilized her innate acting skills. She is a pet groomer who has left the hustle and bustle of the the big city to move to a small town where is she meets Zack, his family, who run the local theater, & it just so happens that so Zooey is a natural in the part of Anne Elliott in the production of Persuasion, in which of course Zack portrays Captain Wentworth, and our story takes off from there! Of course I am giving nothing away by saying that our two characters fall in love, but it is the journey to find each other as the right match for one another, no matter the cost,, as in the original Persuasion, that keeps us hooked to this audiobook, and I absolutely loved every minute of it! I highly recommend this book and give it an A+. The narrator, Izzy Risoni, does a wonderful job narrating and captures all of our characters to perfection. Her voice is as lovely as the story!

I've listened to quite a few Jane Austen adaptions, but it's rare to come across one about Persuasion. Anne Elliot has always been one of my very favorite Austen heroines and the inclusion of the play version of Persuasion was refreshing. Zoey and Dawson were the perfect pair, and I appreciated that the author included so many moments with them together. Their dialogue was fun and it was easy to see how they fell for each other over the duration of the play.
The narration was clear and easy to understand, and fit the book and characters well. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
Refreshing variation
