SHE FOUGHT LIKE HELL TO SET THE EXAMPLE FOR LITTLE BLACK GIRLS EVERYWHERE .............

A successful, African American businesswoman buys up the businesses and property in the racist town she was reared in. She fights against the prejudice former owners, poor economy, corrupted educational system, and oppressed residents, to turn it into a modern black utopia.

Along the way she is met with opposition by a childhood nemesis, whose family once owned the town, and upon it's sale, hold a grudge against Karen's movement, trying everything from intimidation, to violence, to arson, to bring back the ways of the past.

Karen befriends a preteen named Keke, taking her in as a surrogate daughter, and teaching her strategic moves for independence for future generations. Keke's mother is an addict who needs the assistance of the family as they fight against racism, ignorance, and the everyday struggle.

The author is quoted as saying, "This particular project is dedicated to my mother. Although she wasn't rich, she was a very giving person who made a difference. I thought of the best version of my mother, made her wealthy and began writing this character. This is something the whole family can enjoy."

Will Karen's self sufficient black town be successful? Can Keke grow into a productive citizen who gives back? Is her mother doomed to her mistakes? Will Jane Ledford be eternally racist? Will it all burn down?

These questions and more are answered in Phenomenal Woman, a look into the greatness of black unity, the black community, and the black woman. A must read!!!
