Me in the suburbs!
Only a client like this one could get me out of the city and into a suburb. But her mother got killed when someone heaved a concrete block off an overpass and through her windshield.
The police are settling for calling it a tragic accident. My client doesn’t by it.
Newland is a suburb, a small, tight-knit community that pays the police well and discourages inconvenient investigations and having unflattering things brought into the light.
I’m not a huge fan of the light myself, but my client is paying me good money to find out the truth, and I do enjoy bringing down people who think self-defence means hiring a hotshot lawyer.
That isn’t how things work in my world.
And now it looks like I need to bring my world to Newland.
