Don't waste your credit

This book was just awful. The narrator slipped up between the male and female parts. The erotic parts were predictable and the storyline was terrible.

Rushed set up to get to the ménage

2.5 hrs: 1.25 hrs to set up the frustrated female, tired of tame, boring sex. She laments on this to her girlfriend and her two long-time male best buds overhear the conversation. That’s all they need to go from the friend zone to the friends with benefits zone. Once it’s on, it’s really on for the next hour, including a three-way. Final half hour is a quick HEA for her and one of them.
Honestly, you could just read the book summary and start at 1 hr, 10 min in to get to the naughty bits. That’s all you need if you need a quick fix, especially if you can borrow the book as part of Audible Escapes.
I would not pay for the book as it’s not worth keeping in my library.
Not invested enough in the story and the narration was only okay. I have bought/enjoyed other books by this author, but this one is a “no” for me.

Nice Little Short Story

Though it's very short, it has a nice plot. It is a straight up erotic novella. There is no crazy angst and it was nice to see the transition from friends to lovers. The narrator has a pleasant voice and does well separating the characters. It was well worth the couple hours of my time.

Hero vs villain

The hero is far less than heroic. I found myself hoping again and again that the heroine escaped him and found someone better.

How the heroine could be attracted to someone who treats her like crap I don’t know. The author compares the hero to the villain who beat the heroine nearly to death. Is that all the reader can ask of a hero? At least he won’t hit her? Yuck.

Couldn’t finish it.

I'd rather be visualizing the Highlands...

I have not read a book by Maya Banks since I enjoyed her Highland stories years ago. I read the synopsis for this story and knew there would be a threesome and that the sex was not all vanilla which is fine with me. Occasionally, I like ROMANTIC erotica like Robin Schone's "A Lady's Pleasure". The sex in this tale by Maya Banks is consensual but I found no romance In it. The characters are one dimensional with the only noticable goal being sex In their lives. In addition to being unable to invest in the characters, I was unable to relate. I have nor would let anyone tell me what to do, much less spank or paddle me at least since I was a child. I do not find these acts sexy but instead belittling so the last thing I want to do is read about behavior I find repulsive. Does it escape readers how demeaning this act is? Also that this is not practiced in an egalitarian relationship? If it feels so good, why are these females not returning the favor for the same male $sses? I know that far fewer males are submissives and there is a reason for that. Even if a male is identified as a submissive, he is often described in these novels as having been emotionally scarred in the past (I.e. weak like women). Have some of us been so brainwashed by the hype of FSOG that we cannot separate pain in order to enjoy sex. Personally, if I needed to experience pain to enjoy sex, I would be in a therapist's office. At any rate, I DNF this publication and will avoid this author's interpretation of "erotica", never mind romance in the future.

The narrator did an adequate job. I had to speed it up to 1.25 to prevent drag. I'd be dragging too if I had to read garbage.

MMF fantasy ... slurp ;P

A sweet little story about a woman with a MMF fantasy. Luckily she finds two men able and ready to fulfill her desires. It was a bit too short for my liking as it wasn't too believable since it was rushed. I wish the story was way longer as Maya could have explored some more MMF fantasies and further build the relationships! :P

I had a little problem with the narration. Too slow for my liking. So, I listened to it with increased speed of 1.20x. That was much better.

This book is definitely worth listening to if the narration is acceptable for you. Enjoy!

i liked the story premise, but it was too short and had an underdeveloped story and ending as many books seem to be.

Overall I enjoyed this book.

I read several of this author's Scottish Highland stories several years ago and I liked them. I had a couple of minor issues with this tale which I will describe as follows.

It seems to me that there has been a trend since FSOG for spanking and other painful acts which are supposed to be stimulating for the participants. While I am not a prude and have no problem with anything consensual between adults, I personally find reading about this type of sexual activity unappealing. I can see where light spanking and light bondage would be fun as long as it is not painful and done in a playful not punishing manner. Equally, I find the idea of the woman always being the submissive participant boring, preferring a more egalitarian situation without assigned roles. However, I recognize that everyone has the right to draw their own boundaries and that includes me. I don't feel like I am judging but rather writing about what I find stimulating. With so many differing opinions, I wouldn't be surprised if an author would just like to put everyone's opinions all in a blender!

WARNING: SPOILER AHEAD - The other issue in the book I found confusing was why the female main character got SO upset about the male character overhearing her convo with her friend. It wasn't like he was eavesdropping so it seemed like a tempest in a teacup to me. However, the author did have the character admit that she had overreacted but her behaviour seemed extreme to me. I found both characters likeable although I would have enjoyed more character development.

In conclusion, I felt that this book was a fairly good story although I enjoyed the writer's earlier publications better. However, I think Maya Banks is obviously an accomplished author and I look forward to reading more of her works in the future.
