Captain Greg Daniels will not allow others to treat him like a pawn any longer. Now he takes charge.

Zayna is the new leader of Perseus as the underground hacker group has to pick up the pieces after Kim's death. With David in charge of the ISC, Zayna is full-time with Perseus. She wants this to be over and there is only one way to do that, take down David Rivera.

Will a new mysterious onyx asteroid be the tipping point? How far is Zayna willing to go to get her life back? What will it take to stop David Rivera, if anything can?

Secrets, Sacrifices and Now Destinations

Received an audio copy from the author, this is an honest. Narrated brilliantly by Kyle Snyder, Outlaws nicely sets the stage for the final book of this series, Showdown. David Rivera's carefully crafted manipulation has finally achieved what he's been desiring: the launch of the interstellar ship took humanity to another stark system. At the same time, David's long game begins to crash around him as the masterful hacker group, Perseus, strikes decisively against the Ptolemy technology and an assassin changes the outcome for David and his Lazarus Project. Explosive secrets regarding the mysterious black asteroid finally pushes Captain Daniels and the crew of Boone to abandoned their commitment to TKI and head to Titan station for the truth. Fast paced and smart, highly recommended.

I wanted to like this series

This is more of a review for the series and not just book 4. This whole series just kinda fell short in the end. Between the short runs of each book, and some overall plot points that ended not being relevant or important at all. Sandra was just... unbearable (see book 1 review for a similar note), but most of the main women felt like they were written by a man, and yes I know they were.. but it was very obvious. They are very shallow in depth, very whiny, their motivations feel mostly like empty plot devices. The wrap up of the main story and characters felt very hollow, we never got a gradifing conclusion to ANYTHING, it just kinda stopped. In the end every time someone hugged and smiled, or thanked each other for their honest opinion and apologized, I was laughing because EVERYONE did this except perhaps the magic hitman (who never shows up again). I get that some people would do this, and have this relationship, and it makes sense, but I swear If anyone got stabbed in this book the stabber would apologize and hug the victim and tell them they didn't really want to do it and hope they appreciated the feedback and if they survived see if they can help them get a new apartment or job. The very abrupt ending of some characters was also a bit comical, a bit of a.. welp don't need them anymore. I think the voice actor kinda hurt this story, His choice of voices really colored the dialogue, and when I replay some of the more cringey dialogue in my head and use a more basic "reading voice" it does sounds better. His Colston, Greg, David voices were really good, the rest just didn't work.
I'm feeling a bit ranty here, and I could focus on the negative, but the positives DO win in the end. It was an interesting world to live in, the Science Fiction concepts were clever and allowed you to spend time thinking about lassoing an asteroid. The software engineering parts felt well grounded. I think another couple of revisions of these, and just merging them into one or two books, and expanding and linking the plots together would have turned this into a really solid read.
