great book

lots of plot, very little steamy parts. characters are all developed, tension is perfect. this is my second read through and I'm every bit as captivated as the first time. I would recommend this book

Great account of Robert the Bruce and Elizabeth

STORY: This book is about the romantic relationship between Robert the Bruce and Elizabeth de Burgh. These are real characters in Scotland history, a quick online search will fill you in if you are not familiar. There are not many historical records of women in this time (early 14th century). What we do know is Robert the Bruce plays for team Scotland and Elizabeth was born into a powerful family who was team England – so how did they end up together? This author does a great job of creating a story around what facts we do know; this is a quite believable version of how their courtship could have gone.

WHAT I THOUGHT: 4.5 stars. I was pulled in. I really liked the way the characters were developed. I truly disliked the bad guys and was rooting for the good ones. If I had any critique it would be that it drug on a little in some parts, and there were times that these very smart leads missed obvious clues. In general, I found this book very entertaining and definitely worth a credit.

ADULT CONTENT: There are battle scenes and other violence. There is also adult sexual content.

Robert the Bruce never better!

Robert and Elizabeth had many trials before finding their peace. This is the genre that Julie Johnstone is at her best. Robert the Bruce was absolutely dreamy with his dimples and Julie writes their romance with such passion. I was a little disappointed in the one time Robert had his doubts of Elizabeth. I didn't think he would fall for those lies. Luckily, that didn't last too long. I'm very anxious to read of Angus and Lilianna's story! Hope it's as good as Robert and Elizabeth's! Narration is excellent.

More!

Made you wonder what it would have been like to live under the rule of an all powerful King of that time and to dare to truly love. Narrator was excellent.

I loved this story. It is sad, but uplifting at the same time. God bless Robert the Bruce.
