Publisher's summary

Mac had to be out of his mind.

Completely out of his ever-loving mind to even consider rooming with Gideon. The same guy he kissed during his freshman year who said he was straight. He's held Mac's mind hostage for the last two years after running out that one special night. Mac was a fan of social experiments, and this one was going to be a doozy.

Gideon doesn't sweat anything. He was always two lies ahead of everyone. A master at spinning rock solid alibis to protect the house of cards that was his life. To Browerton University, he's the popular guy getting over a breakup. To his family . . . the dutiful and responsible son. But rooming with Mac was bringing up old memories and forming new ones. First, a friendship develops, and then a late night infused with alcohol pushes them into uncharted, benefits-laden waters.

As their sexual experimentation continues, and the lies add up, both of them fight to withstand the feelings growing between them, feelings that could ruin their friendship and topple Gideon's house of cards for good.

Contains mature themes.

Out of my mind!!

I truly enjoyed this audiobook. The story was fulfilling, funny and hilarious. I love the narration of the story as well. The narrator brought the story to life and was great asset to the story telling! I will definitely give the next book a try.

Sweet story

Sweet story lite listening could have had more development for the characters and their relationships.
Some accents in narration were not great.

Hit the right notes

Gideon and Mac meet at a frat party at the start of their freshman year at college. They hit it off. Have good banter -Mac is gay and happy that he’s at his first party and flirting with a guy. Gideon is straight and clueless he asks Mac back to his dorm room. A kiss. A misunderstanding. They part ways. Flash forward two years...

Both characters were believable and easy to connect with. I smiled, I laughed out loud, and I even teared up a few times…sad tears and happy tears. Secondary characters were well developed. I love how family was handled.

I enjoyed this book I haven't read any other book from the series and didn't feel like I missed anything. So this can be read as a standalone. Is it the best gay romance you’ll read all year? Maybe not. But it hit all the right notes for me.

Just listen

A romancé that makes you smile, laugh and cry in some parts at least for me. The accents were good also loved the moms New York accent. I would have finished faster if I didn’t have to work.

Great

This story is so sweet. The love story is one that I’ve never read before. It’s sweet and the characters are lovable. The narrator is one if the best. I always enjoy his act. I encourage everyone to listen to this book.

Best thing about this book is that it was short

Story is mediocre and predictable. After hearing Cendese’s overly dramatic narration of other books, I found his rendition of the New York Jewish mother very humorous.

Stereotyped and annoying characters

This was my first try for this author, though not to MM fiction. I found it frustrating. The characters annoyed me and seemed poorly developed and based on many stereotypes. The “Jewish Mother” is just one example. Not worth the time.

Cute

This story does deal with several heavy topics, such as hate crimes, prejudice, parental rejection, bullying, and questioning one’s sexuality, so readers/listeners should be aware of that.
I liked the story for the most part. It wasn’t a favorite of mine, but it was entertaining.

Easy, funny and charming listen.

Some of the narrator's voices are annoying. But, not enough to distract from the story. I typically listen to this type of romance for a respite from "heavier" reading. However, this story still had depth while also being sweet and funny

Very interesting story

I really enjoyed the book. It was somewhat different from what I have read before. There were homophobic people, family pressures of different religious backgrounds, denials, etc all in one book. It all created a very interesting book. The narrator was very good. The different accents and voices made the book even better.
