Publisher's Summary

A Warhammer 40,000 audio drama boxed set.

The galaxy has changed. The Imperium is divided, and a primarch has returned - and the Ecclesiarchy, the great Imperial church - is close to civil war. Only Saint Celestine -with the aid of Inquisitor Greyfax - can stand in the way of this disaster.

Listen to it because

Two of the biggest heroes of the Dark Imperium - Saint Celestine and Inquisitor Greyfax - join forces to stop one of the most important Imperial organisations from falling into civil war in an epic four-part audio saga starring none other than Catherine Tate!

The story

During the turbulent Reign of Blood, a great schism in the Imperial Ecclesiarchy threatened all of Terra and promised a darkness to rival the terrors of Old Night. Fell times have come again to the Imperium, and a War of Faith appears inevitable. Standing in the way of catastrophe is Celestine, the Living Saint and one of the greatest heroes of the age. Only she can reunite the warring factions of the Ecclesiarchy and prevent a second Reign of Blood. Together with the Inquisitor Greyfax, Celestine and her allies must hunt across the shrineworlds of the Imperium and beyond to root out the evil behind the schism and burn it out with righteous, cleansing flame.

Written by Gav Thorpe.

Performed by Cliff Chapman, Steve Conlin, Andrew Fettes, Matthew Hunt, Toby Longworth, Carla Mendonca, Richard Reed, David Sibley, Ramon Tikaram and Jo Woodcock, with Emma Gregory as Saint Celestine and Catherine Tate as Inquisitor Greyfax.

Slow charge in the beginning, but good ending.

It was different getting used to the Audio Drama setting as it doesn’t have narration. It is the voice actors and sound effects only. After getting used to it though, Gav Thorpe creates a great story for the two protagonists, Greyfax and Celestine. I eagerly await sequel for them!

P.S. excellent choice in voice actors. Powerful performances.

Great acting; ok story

Black library audio consistently has great voice actors and this is no exception. Plot was a bit inconsistent though and some of the events, especially at the end, seemed a bit rushed and incoherent.

A dive into the faith of the Imperium.

Religious fervor has always been a key element in 40k lore concerning the Imperium, and in this audio drama we get exactly what we expected from a story concerning a saint of the Imperium.

Full of intrigue, politics, and the typical: "drive me closer I want to hit them with my sword!" bluster that we have come to associate with Warhammer 40,000 this audio drama will not disappoint.

Outstanding cast; both veteran and new voices make their mark on the 40k universe and it shows - the work they put in is from enthusiasm and passion.

Let your faith in the Emperor be rewarded: let his light shine into your soul! Get this drama today!

Overall good

Multiple voice actors. Chapter three is a bit weak but overall a great story. I like the voice actors and their good at their jobs but the whole pro feminism at the end was not the best. Maybe try to be pro humanity instead

absolutely incredible

I need more 40k audio dramas in my life.. this was next level stuff! really enjoyed it, action packed, shame it's only 4 hours long.. the last hour is interviews with the voice actors but absolutely worth this month's credit.

Not for me

Unfortunately these radio play style releases just don't work for me. This one almost worked but I think Catherine Tate just wasn't the right choice for Greyfax and that sealed it for me.

fantastic voice acting , AVG script

really enjoyed the overall experience but found the story to be a bit of a let down . There's a lot going on in this story in each chapter , you have to be a bit of a fluff buff to have a remote chance of getting through some parts with any understanding. The battles are great but I have to say there were few times where I felt that any of the pov characters were under any real threat, that took a great deal of suspense out of the experience.

On the fence.

Wasn't sure about the sound effects at first, when characters were speaking to each other you could hear someone walking on gravel in the background or a door creaking open, it wasn't until the 2nd two chapters are you in tune with the sound and then the effects come into their own. Greyfax spent most of her time threatening those standing close to her but does eventually have something to do, too much bickering between characters.
All the characters where very well done everyone out a lot of effort into their roles and I enjoyed the storyline eventually. But I wasn't prepared for all and every sound effect. Hopefully there will be more like this and I will be better prepared. I don't think it was a good idea introducing everyone at the beginning of each chapter, or for all the interviews at the end, but I guess it was just to make the story longer.

A different yet fun listen

A very different audio book experience from what I am used to. This is a more theatrical experience with sound effects which was disorientsting at first as you have to really listen for what is going on however the sound design has been done very well and even in the action scenes you still have a sense of direction. The story itself was overall good, nothing spectacular but a good bit of action if that's your thing.

Would recommend as a change from the usual and it is a fun listen to 40k fans too
