Publisher's Summary

A Warhammer 40,000 audio drama boxed set.

The galaxy has changed. The Imperium is divided, and a primarch has returned - and the Ecclesiarchy, the great Imperial church - is close to civil war. Only Saint Celestine -with the aid of Inquisitor Greyfax - can stand in the way of this disaster.

Listen to it because

Two of the biggest heroes of the Dark Imperium - Saint Celestine and Inquisitor Greyfax - join forces to stop one of the most important Imperial organisations from falling into civil war in an epic four-part audio saga starring none other than Catherine Tate!

The story

During the turbulent Reign of Blood, a great schism in the Imperial Ecclesiarchy threatened all of Terra and promised a darkness to rival the terrors of Old Night. Fell times have come again to the Imperium, and a War of Faith appears inevitable. Standing in the way of catastrophe is Celestine, the Living Saint and one of the greatest heroes of the age. Only she can reunite the warring factions of the Ecclesiarchy and prevent a second Reign of Blood. Together with the Inquisitor Greyfax, Celestine and her allies must hunt across the shrineworlds of the Imperium and beyond to root out the evil behind the schism and burn it out with righteous, cleansing flame.

Written by Gav Thorpe.

Performed by Cliff Chapman, Steve Conlin, Andrew Fettes, Matthew Hunt, Toby Longworth, Carla Mendonca, Richard Reed, David Sibley, Ramon Tikaram and Jo Woodcock, with Emma Gregory as Saint Celestine and Catherine Tate as Inquisitor Greyfax.

Great performance

Really liked the book, but the portrayal of the Custodians are contradictory to Master of Mankind.

good in spite of it's main character

the story is told well but it has so god Emperor damned many assumptions at th proven true out of thin-air she has no reason to assume half of this shit is actually correct out of all the other ones it's transparently just cause the author said so voice acting saves it despite that grayfax is a terrible inquisitor and an annoying character to boot I understand inquisitors can be intense however she acts like a spoiled rich kid a catty office bitch and an arrogant douche who needs to be taken down a peg celestians great though

in short great performance, bad inquisitor and a very good saint

A dive into the faith of the Imperium.

Religious fervor has always been a key element in 40k lore concerning the Imperium, and in this audio drama we get exactly what we expected from a story concerning a saint of the Imperium.

Full of intrigue, politics, and the typical: "drive me closer I want to hit them with my sword!" bluster that we have come to associate with Warhammer 40,000 this audio drama will not disappoint.

Outstanding cast; both veteran and new voices make their mark on the 40k universe and it shows - the work they put in is from enthusiasm and passion.

Let your faith in the Emperor be rewarded: let his light shine into your soul! Get this drama today!

Worth the credit?

I was a little reluctant to spend a credit on 6 hours of audio but this production was so excellent, the story so gripping & the consequences for the Imperium so grave I have zero regrets. Not bolter porn if that's your thing, but full of action, mystery, & political intrigue.

Highly recommended.

Amazing story, felt like you were in 40k.

The performance was amazing , characters were well developed and the plot was something that had a lot of weight behind it. Even the opening speech made me physically excited.

Great reading plus sound effects.

The added sound effects from the battle sounds and holy music to echo effects on the saint really pushed it over the top. even my coworkers who dont like warhammer thought it was impresive and stopped to listen. 10/10

Imagine a hormonal teenager as an Inquisitor

This is the worst 40k book I have ever read or listened to that had more potential than just Space Marines shooting and eviscerating things. I don't understand what happened, The Inquisition and Saint Celestine are some of the coolest things in the entire 40k universe. I liked Lorgar, so it can't be that Gav Thorpe, the author is to blame. The production is awful. It is not a book on tape, but more like an audio drama. The transitions are bad from scene to scene, as the background sounds distract more than augment. When Space Marines sound stiff and dumb I can tolerate it. Maybe the author is bad, maybe the progenoid glands in the Space Marine make them say inane corny things. Who knows? But this.... These are humans. Apparently, someone at BL thought, "Let's get a hyper critical, super demanding "City Girl" and make her an Inquisitor." "Amazingly someone actually agreed, "Yeah, Sex and the City in space, it's perfect." When the stupidly obvious is not being crammed down your throat, you are subjected to an Inquisitor who constantly seems to be annoyed by her own retinue and always tells them to do whatever it is they are doing, but faster. As if that were not bad enough, she even criticized the Lord she reports to for not, and I can't make this up, allowing a council member to vote on whether or not they should be assassinated. At that point, I called this one quits. There are great, believable female characters all over 40k. Ilya from White Scars and every single female in the entire 492 Horus Heresy novels comes to mind. There are a ton of great audiobooks for 40k on here, and they are a bargain over buying from the BL directly. The Lords of Silence and Dante are awesome. As are a bunch of others. Try all of them before you get this. Really bummed out that this fascinating subject was apparently written for a Seventeen magazine expose on women in space,

Great acting; ok story

Black library audio consistently has great voice actors and this is no exception. Plot was a bit inconsistent though and some of the events, especially at the end, seemed a bit rushed and incoherent.

Typical Gav Thorpe

Full of infallible women evil weak men,and cringe worthy court intrigue. It could be worse at least GW had the good sense to remove him from the Codex team. I think I'll stick with the books from Dan Abnett and Guy Smiley going forward.

Got me interested in the whole Warhammer series.

I never would have thought I would love this sp much but I do. I like all the characters and the action. It even got me into checking out the other warhammer series and that says alot since space fiction is not my tea.

I need more 40k audio dramas in my life.. this was next level stuff! really enjoyed it, action packed, shame it's only 4 hours long.. the last hour is interviews with the voice actors but absolutely worth this month's credit.

Always fun hanging out with Inquisitor Greyfax.

Wonderful characters. Pacey story. Great acting. Oh, and a smug Necron. As I play Necrons, I think every story should have a smug superior Necron, looking down its nose at the primitive humans.

Amazing Story! My new favourite!

I listened to this in 1 sitting and was hooked throughout. My new favourite from the black library! The acting is on point throughout and the overall story is fantastic.

The voice actress for Saint Celestine is the best I've ever heard. A scene in Chapter 3 where the Living Saint gives a passionate warcry and motivational speech to the Black Ravens and Sisters of Battle was a hairs standing up on your neck moment.

Would recommend to absoloutley anyone!!

Absolutely loved this audio drama, great voice acting and background noise work. Love Gav Thorpe’s script work. Would happily buy anything else he writes or this team performs.

Great Performance

I was amazed by Tate's performance although she is a class act already, but to have her do a 40K performance was even more enthralling. I saw her namr and I had to hear for myself.

I'd give 10 stars on performance if I could!

Magnificent work. This is 5 hours long pure massive powerful warhammer experience! Worth every penny. Listening to these fights, conversations, politics was magical and engaging. Sound design is also great. It's like listening to a show in a theater, but with praising the emperor, and shooting bolters.
Listened it twice!
