Little Round Top, The Wheatfield, The Peach Orchard, Devil's Den, the Railroad Cut, Pickett's Charge - these were the turning points within the most important battle of the bloodiest war in American history. But even careful students of Gettysburg can find themselves confused when listening about, or visiting, the battlefield. Here, finally, is a convenient guide for serious student and casual visitor alike which covers the sweep of events and the geography of the battlefield, step-by-step.

This guide will help you find all the important locales and understand what the participants saw in 1863, even if you have no prior knowledge of the battle. Designed to enhance the experience of both those listening about the battle for the first time, as well as Civil War "Ahololics", this guide can be used alone, or as a great way to prepare for a future visit to the battlefield.

Clearly written and illustrated with maps, photographs and illustrations, this is the audiobook to have if you really want to understand step-by-step what happened during those three terrible days at Gettysburg.

Loved this book. Very well written with informative side stories. Alot of research went into this book.

I really enjoyed the detail and personal accounts. I pray we never forget the price paid by Americans to settle our differences.

Serious and sobering reminder.

Good read and great reading. The random audio changes somewhat take away from your attention, but overall well done.

Biggest complaint is the butchering of many names Accurate summary of the battle. Retreat could have received more attention

Great story

I cannot say that the story is well written and the narration leaves much to be desired. The writting is very disjointed and confusing to follow. It is also anoyingly broken up by constant tid bits of information bracketed by "and aside" followed by "back to the main story". These tid bits are fine, but they can and should be written into the narrative in a cohesive way thay flows with the story.
The descriptions of the positions of troops and actions are detailed but again, the informations is scattered and disjointed; and the average listener will very easily be confused by it all.
The narrator also mispronounces a number of words and names. For example, William Brewster's New York brigade was known as the "Excelsior" brigade, but the narrator keeps refering to them as the "exclusior" brigade. There is even a part where he pronounces the name correctly, but in the very next paragraph he calls them the "exclusiors". He cmispronounces "Kimball" and calls him "Klingball". The constant pauses and hesitaitions before the mispronounciations makes it very clear that he is reading this script for the first time.

Not great, not terrible.

The story was okay but poorly narrated. The author should have paid a professional.
