This was the first time I had listened to an audiobook with these narrators. Holy moly the growls that Dane Anderson has is out of this world. The story was so fun.

Fun listen

A lot can happen in a cabin in just 5 days!! A lot happens very quickly in this story. Enjoyable quick listen, lots of spice, the duet narration was a treat!

I found the story itself to be well-written & the voice actors were great. If you're into sexy alphas, insta-love, age-gap, daddy kink stories, this one is for you!

A mountain escape

Operation: Wife Her Up is a quick and dirty listen(clocking in at just under 4 hours). If you're familiar and a fan of Chloe Maine's work, you know what you're in for: a novella length story where the much older MMC struggles(until he ultimates breaks) with her attraction to the FMC who's been conveniently plopped in his lap.

Justin is on leave from the Navy and is opting to spend his time at his secluded cabin in the mountains. He's ready for a quiet and productive getaway working around the cabin. He's got a goldilocks situation on his hands when he notices that things are not as he left them. When a girl returns from a hike looking for a water bottle she "left behind" he's not about to let her go.

This was better than I thought it would be

I want to say that listening to this for review made me realize that the age gap, daddy kink thing is not my thing. Just wasn't really a fan of all of that at all.

With that said, I still thought this was a well-written, spicy story if you are into it. I don't yuck anyone's yum, so I say listen to this for yourself. I love that it was a duet, and the narration was actually really good. The dynamic felt realistic through the narration, if that makes sense.

Would I listen to another book like this? No, absolutely not. However, as long as it's not a daddy kink book, I will 100% listen to or read a book by this author again.

This was my first audiobook by Chloe Maine, and while I was pleasantly surprised by some aspects, overall it felt just good.

Grumpy/Sunshine Payoff: Justin’s protective streak and Abigail’s innocence create tension, but sometimes her vulnerability made me pause.

Kink Exploration: I appreciated that both characters were unsure about the daddy kink dynamic but communicated openly. That honesty made their exploration feel collaborative.

Insta-Love: The romance escalates quickly. I don’t mind insta-love, but here it sometimes felt rushed, especially given Abigail’s lack of experience.

🔥 Spice
This novella is spicier than expected. If you’re looking for kink-positive romance, especially daddy kink, this book delivers. That said, Abigail’s innocence occasionally made the dynamic feel like it teetered between fantasy fulfillment and potential exploitation. She does tell us she’s fantasized about this, so I can see both sides of the coin.

🏡 Setting
The cabin setting keeps the story contained, which works for a novella but limited the chance to explore Abigail’s growth outside that space. I wanted more world-building beyond the cabin walls.

🎯 Overall

Strengths: Strong chemistry, open kink communication, protective hero.

Limitations: Constrained setting, rushed insta-love, innocence dynamic that may not sit well with all listeners.

Verdict: A spicy, kink-forward novella that’s worth a listen if you enjoy grumpy/sunshine and protective heroes, but it may leave you conflicted depending on how you feel about innocence in romance.

great audio for this Chloe Maine title

I've eyeball read this before, but reading a second time on Audio with an ALC!

This feels like such classic Chloe Maine! Its been about a year and a half since I've read this, so I remembered the story but not all the little details.

The narrators really nailed the parts - a shy inexperienced FMC and a Navy Seal older MMC. Justin's narrator sounded exactly how I imagined Justin, only maybe a bit older than Justin's 36. And Abigail sounded exactly like I imagined in my mind!

There are other Chloe Maine stories I prefer over this one, but for what this one is, Chloe does it amazingly! She nails all the tropes so perfectly and really plays into each of them just right.

I always enjoy everything Chloe writes and was happy to hear this one in audio!

Wonderful story!

I absolutely loved this story. The love these two had for each other was truly amazing and something that always astounds me. The fact that Justin was immediately drawn to Abby and keeping her safe really showed how much he cared for Abby. The fact that Abby was pretty much kept hostage by her past because of her parents death really hit Justin hard and he wanted to pick her up and make her his wife immediately. Abby had some real trust issues and wouldn’t let Justin get close to her because she expected him to leave her to. He stayed made her his wife and soon to be mother of his child. I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves romance stories especially with a military connection.

Hot Hot Hot

Operation: Wife Her Up is steamy hot, unapologetic, and filthy flirty instalust fun. Justin and Abigail have intense chemistry and the most beautiful connection. I adore how hard he falls for her, and his mile wide protective streak is alpha-delicious! The mystery that unravels around Abigail as we get to know her is complex and convoluted, and Justin’s story weaves with hers intricately and intimately as they each allow their deepest passions to flow freely. Narrators Jill Smith and Dane Anderson bring the magic to life with his deep and growly voice being a perfect offset to her sunshine and rainbows. Loves this one all around!!!
