The grave is one wrong step away.

Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans’ voodoo queen just keeps on giving - leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.

Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity - forever. But how do you kill a killer who’s already long dead?

Jeaniene Frost, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. Aside from writing, she enjoys reading, poetry, exploring old cemeteries, spelunking, and traveling - by car. Airplanes, children, and cookbooks frighten her.

I love love love this series. Jeaniene Frost is an amazingly talented writer. Her imagery jumps off the page. Tavia Gilbert is one of the best narrators around. She brings the book and the characters to life. Every character is distinct and she puts her all into the performance. Now I have read/listened to all of her Night Huntress books and the story never turns bland or boring. Some authors at least one dull book in the series. I have to say she does not. Every book delivers great story, lots of laughs, awesome fight scenes and hot romance. Each book grabs you from the very start and take you for a wild ride. This is a fun series to start and follow.

It NEVER gets old

The Night Huntress series gets better with time. In this sixth installment, Cat finds herself in a fight with a ghost. This is no ordinary ghost, oh no. This is a very nasty, bad ghost who is right up Cat's alley to vanquish. This story starts exactly where the last novel left off. Indeed, the very last words of book five are the start of book six. As always, Crispin (Bones) is there for the merriment as is most of the characters we have come to love, save one conspicuous absence. Fabian and ... is more central to this story and I find that delightful. I wonder how that will affect follow on novels.

At this point, I've gotten used to Gilbert's narration of Bones, I am less annoyed. I am breaking down and grudging giving her a good job on this one. In order to understand this book, you have to read book 5. Don't try to skip it. You can get away with not reading 1 thru 4, but book five is a must or you'll miss most of 6, you'll be saying 'huh?'

I'm looking forward to the next one. Although, the next one looks like a 1/2 novel called Home for the Holidays. Should move pretty fast. I give it a big thumbs up.

The best villain yet

If you could sum up One Grave at a Time in three words, what would they be?

Entertaining. Engrossing. Riveting.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bones. I loved the accent!

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tavia brings these characters to life. I loved the different voices she was able to give to each of the characters. I was swept away into another world. I am not usually a paranormal romance fan. This series was a fantastic surprise. Tavia, and Jeanine Frost of course, made it a favorite for me!

Any additional comments?

I love books in a series. I highly recommend this series, even to someone who is not a fan of paranormal romance. Try it. You'll like it!
