Murf is a professional gambler, a confessed liar and thief. He's a coward who's known to be overly friendly to other men's wives and daughters, and he's fled more than one town just a step ahead of people who want his head on a pole--or something much more painful. Cards are his life and livelihood, but he's never taken one of the Unity's magic cards into his soul to become a Holder because honestly, it seems like a horrible way to live to him.

All Murf wanted was to play some cards, win some money, and maybe enjoy the company of some women with fairly loose morals. Instead, he's got bounty hunters after him, Holders who want to kill him, and some shadowy villain who wants the card that he's got stuck inside him. And all because he drew one bad card...

Murf's Laws is a card-based LitRPG series. It's got mild profanity, a fair bit of violence, non-explicit amorous encounters, and an MC with a dirty mind and matching sense of humor. And, as Millie keeps insisting, "No harems!"

Great characters, great story

First, elephant in the room -- there's missing chapter and a repeated chapter in the current audiobook. Hopefully fixed soon.

But other than that ... in the opening chapters, the gambler Murf is sent into certain death. Surprise -- the story doesn't end on the first chapter. Instead, he obtains a card.

It's a furry world: Humans, canids, felines, ursas and avians. And halflings, elves, goblins, trolls and other fantasy creatures. I liked the racial mix. It's a card world: residents can get cards of power. There's a main deck based on 5-suit Tarot, plus other cards. It's sort of an anti-harem: The MC has four main companions, all female, but they all kind of hate him and barely want to work with him.

I liked it! Lots of good characters, good dialog, good villains, good fights and interesting encounters. One of the best series I've tried this year, A-tier, and I'll definitely get the next one.

Missing chapters. Chapters 22 and 23 are identical. leaving the real ch 23 missing.

I'm on chapter 24 right now and chapter 22 and 23 are identical which means I missed the whole battle/ fight scene that should have happened on chapter 23. I believe this happened once earlier in the audio book but didn't realize at the time just thought story was confusing. Whoever put this audio book together is an idiot at editing and checking their work and the author should ask for a discount or money back. story so far is ok and I'm interested in finishing it. Hopefully this doesn't keep happening.

update. I finished book and the story was pretty good, the voice actors voice was ok, but he miss pronounced words which were annoying and the editing was really bad. Author should demand their money back for such a poor job. I own and have listened to over a thousand audio books and only a handful have had such poor editing and simple mistakes.
