With a deadly disease spreading like wildfire across the country, microbiologist Nora Medina needs to focus all her energy on stopping the pandemic. She's forced to work with Deacan McDougall, her way-too-hot ex, against unexpected enemies with the seconds ticking by. And she knows the explosion is coming.

Phantom Embrace by Dianne Duvall:

Stake Out by Hannah Jayne:

Vampire fashion designer Nina LaShay has a lot on her plate - just two days until fashion week and the model who was flirting with her photographer boyfriend is now a corpse in her studio. Only One Good one in the Bunch

What did you like best about On the Hunt? What did you like least?

The Diane Duvall story.
The other three stories. I was disappointed because I expect so much from each of these authors.

What did you like best about this story?

That the two lovers found each other and are together.

What does Arika Rapson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nothing

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

Although all four authors are good writers. The first story dragged on so long I skipped to the next then had to move on to the third. The narrator on the first story made me go to sleep throughout the short story. The last story started so badly that I finally just turned it off after chapter three. I may go back and finish but I doubt it.

2 were wonderful..

Any additional comments?

F-Bomb was used 51 times. That’s OK with me but I know how some of you are with swearing. So you’ve been warned.

HUNT by ALEXANDRA IVY 5 stars

So, this is my first read by this author and I have to tell you I loved this novella and I will definitely see what else Ms. Ivy has to offer.
I loved both Mika and Bailey, and their second chance at happiness. I liked Wolfe, too. Boggs was a seriously odd character, and likable. I was happy about Jacob. After all, he was a victim, too. This was a nicely exciting novella and I didn’t feel the desire to skip even a page.
There wasn’t even a smidgen of sexual tension in this book but there was a great sex scene, just nothing that led up to it.

SCORPIUS RISING by Rebecca Zanetti and the next book isn’t due out until January. 2 stars

A CLIFFHANGER..The story was nice and exciting, but I found Nora to be more than a little naïve and kind of self-absorbed. I felt like she thought she was always right and everyone else was wrong. I loved Deacan, especially the way the narrator did his slight accent. But I can’t see me reading anything else by Ms. Zanetti because I can’t stand for a woman’s body part to be referred to as a c*nt. UGH! That’s a disgusting word. IMO. There was 3 sex scenes in this novella.

PHANTOM EMBRACE by Dianne Duvall 10 stars

Awesome story! Love, love, loved Yuri and Cat. They were such a spectacular couple. And I’ll be so glad when they find out who the traitor is. And I’ll be glad when the next book comes out. As much as I love Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark I think I love Immortal Guardians better. The players, Seth, David, Zach, Lizette, Bastian, Melanie, Roland, Richart, Etienne, and all the others, are fabulous.

As with Alexandra Ivy’s book there wasn’t an ounce of sexual tension but some great sex.

STAKE OUT by HANNAH JAYNE 3 stars, just to be fair to the author.

Sorry! Not reading a vampire book written in the first person.

As to the narrator: I'm not sure I've ever heard Arika Rapson narrate before but she did a super job on this book. I thought Deacan's slight Scottish accent was marvelous. She did great with all the voices but she doesn't have much emotion. She really didn't whisper too much, or sigh, never laughed when it was called for. She needs to practice that and she would be a excellent narrator.

UGH!!!!! I can’t stand the narrator!

The narrator was so horrible I couldn’t force myself to listen to one more word! Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard!

too much backstory

I guess the author assumed that either we hadn't read the earlier volumes or had forgotten since she had to tell us everything that had happened. Please just tell us what we need to know when we need to know it. I gave up.

Immortal Guardians want love too

Having already listened to Phantom Embrace, I wondered about the beginning of Phantom Embrace. But soon saw where this was going and I was thrilled. Even in the afterlife there is love.

I'm a little confused

I'm really uncertain as to why these 4 individual books, written by separate authors, that have literally nothing to do with one another, are included as one book? The first and last books weren't very good. The story lines seemed lacking and the characters were hard to relate to and kind of annoying. The Dianne Duvall one is why I listened to the book, it was good and what I've come to expect from her. A little short, or rushed seeming. The other book was very intriguing and I'm looking forward to more from that author.

Phantom Embrace - Excellent Story

I tried to listen to the whole collection but I can't stand the sound of this narrator. I listened to the first story, then skipped to Phantom Embrace since I couldn't handle her raspy old voice much. Love Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardians and was so sad Yuri fell in the line of duty but still got his Happily Ever After. Cat and her brother Sebastian have such a tragic past, so it's nice to see Cat finally found love after death. I ended up buying the Kindle version and read the book also, which I enjoyed more. I give this story only, 5 stars. The first story in the collection I would give a 4. Didn't listen to the other two.

I struggle to finish ...

I picked this book because I have loved the Diana Duvall series. all four stories were superficial and needed much more content. did not care much for the narrator.

I'm only reviewing Phantom Embrace

Yuri was a secondary character who is stoic and quiet. When he talks it is always important but he does not do a necessary chit chatter. This novella takes place over Darkness Rises (Immortal Guardians, #4) by Dianne Duvall and Night Unbound (Immortal Guardians, #5) by Dianne Duvall.

We get to see what is happening with one of the side characters while shit is hitting the fan. I did like this little novella but I could have take or leave it. Cat is someone that we know because of what's been going on with her brother Sebastian. I did kind of wonder why she was still lingering and this book clears that up for me.

The whole entire relationship was a bit weird to me because he was corporeal while she was a ghost so trying to have that type of relationship is weird but hey this is a novella and in the Paranormal genres so it works. I just wonder if both of them are going to linger throughout the entire series and if they are going to play some type of role within it?

If they're going to play a role within this series I really do hope that Marcus starts to use his gift rather than just shy away from it. I do understand that it is a hard gift to have but he does have this gift for a reason and since everybody is using their gift I feel as though he should use his. I'm hoping that Marcus' gift plays a major role within the series.

Only 1 out of the 4 stories is worth reading

Only Dianne Duvall's story was worth reading. The others were yawners and took too long to get into.
