On the Hunt by Alexandra Ivy:

Mika Tanner has loved Bailey Morrell, a beautiful Healer, since childhood. But his duty as a sentinel, a supernatural guardian of an ancient race, clashed with her rebellious spirit. Now a dangerous new anarchist group threatens life as they know it.

Scorpius Rising by Rebecca Zanetti:

With a deadly disease spreading like wildfire across the country, microbiologist Nora Medina needs to focus all her energy on stopping the pandemic. She's forced to work with Deacan McDougall, her way-too-hot ex, against unexpected enemies with the seconds ticking by. And she knows the explosion is coming.

Phantom Embrace by Dianne Duvall:

Immortal Yuri Sokolov was born with the ability to see spirits. Yet he's never seen one as lovely as Cat Seddon, the woman who haunts his home and his dreams. But amid their star-crossed love, a new danger may have Yuri facing a different kind of eternity.

Stake Out by Hannah Jayne:

Vampire fashion designer Nina LaShay has a lot on her plate - just two days until fashion week and the model who was flirting with her photographer boyfriend is now a corpse in her studio. But when dead turns into undead and dangerous, Nina must find out who's responsible...before the beautiful baby vamp takes too many bites out of the Big Apple.

Having already listened to Phantom Embrace, I wondered about the beginning of Phantom Embrace. But soon saw where this was going and I was thrilled. Even in the afterlife there is love.

Immortal Guardians want love too

Of these four stories, Dianne Duvall won hands down. The others were OK to good, but you cannot beat perfection. Ms. Duvall continues to consistently offer worth the reader’s time to read or listen.

Four stories to choose from

I didn’t like the narrator.... 🤦🏾‍♀️ She was trying to be sexy and it just throw off the whole story....

Narrator 👎🏾

The only good story in here is the third one, Phantom Embrace by Dianne Duvall. It's worth five star if it wasn't bundled up with this lot that I've wasted money on and if it's a bit longer.

Immortal Guardians

I really only got this to listen to the Dianne Duvall story. I could not even get thru one chapter. The narrator is terrible.

On The Hunt by Alexandra Ivy

Star time: 0:00

3-3.5 stars

This was a good story. I liked Mika but found Bailey to be a bit annoying. The reasons she gave for running away from a her relationship with Mika were kind of lame and even when the real reasons came out I still wasn't thrilled with them. I think it was best that the story was short because having to deal with Bailey's issues in a full length novel would have been too much...at least in a shorter story the annoyance factor was much lower. The story itself was pretty good and I liked Mika. Things did end well with Bailey and Mika together and starting a HEA.

Scorpius Rising by Rebecca Zanetti

This was a very good story. Nora and Deacan are both likable characters and the story had a good balance of action and romance. Nora and Deacan met at 16 and fell in love. They married young but his military career and her distrust of the government made things difficult and they divorced. They couldn't forget each other though and when the Scorpius disease starts they're brought back together. It's not an easy reunion but they do come back together in the end. There is a bit of an open ended as far as the action plot goes though and I wonder if there will be more stories after this.

Phantom Embrace by Dianne Duvall

***Warning...spoilers are present in the review of this story****

Yuri is an Immortal Guardian and has spent the past 500 years hunting vampires and protecting humanity. TBH, I was really surprised to see that he got his own story because (as you'll know if you're current on the Immortal Guardians series) he dies at the end of book #5, Night Unbound. The majority of this story takes place during the time frame of Night Unbound, explaining how Yuri (who has a gift that enables him to see spirits) meets Cat and they fall in love...regardless of the fact that she's a spirit and Yuri alive. I really liked the relationship that they managed to have together but obviously it was limited. Yuri's death was sad but it allowed him and Cat to be together fully so although it's bittersweet, they do get a HEA together.

I really enjoyed this story and loved Yuri and Cat together. I sort of wish there was more to their story but the way thing stood, I can see it would have been hard to make it longer. I do hope that Yuri and Cat will be part of the series in the future...I could see them being a help to the Immortal Guardians in the future. :D

Stake Out by Hannah Jayne

Start time: 11:35

3-3.5 stars

This was a good story. I will say that I've never read anything by this author before and might try more of her work in the future. Nina, the heroine, was alright but there were certain things about her that I wasn't majorly hot on. Also, the story focused on fashion and as someone that would probably be considered a Tomboy I wasn't really into that type of story. I think with another heroine/subject matter I would have liked it better since the author's writing seemed to be pretty good.

Basically, this story is about Nina trying to make her mark as an up and coming new fashion designer while hiding the fat that she's a vampire in a world of "breathers". Her pursuit of fashion greatness is put in danger when one of her models is turned into a vamp and Nina, her nephew Vlad and her (maybe?) boyfriend Pike have to go on the hunt for the newbie before she wreaks havoc. They get things worked out in the end but while the romance angle seems like it's heading towards a good conclusion but is left a little unresolved...maybe it'll be addressed more in later books.

Overall, this was a very good anthology that I'd give around 4 stars so I'd recommend it.

Overall a pretty good anthology of stories :)

I really enjoyed this collection of short stories. I actually bought the Audible version and have been listening to it for awhile. I'm already ramped up to read The Scorpius Syndrome series (which I own and have in my TBR pile), and I loved Dianne Duvall's Phantom Embrace; I need more of that series. I liked Ivy's On The Hunt pretty well; I would definitely check out the rest of the series when I have time. I will be honest and say I did not finish the last story - Stake Out. I'm not really into the PNR/Comedy thing. And even with that being said, I didn't find Stake Out all that funny. The main character was self-indulgent and annoying, and the humor to me was cheesy. With that being said, I enjoy collections like these because it gives the reader (or listener in my case) the opportunity to find new authors/series without having to devote the time to an entire book. Although because I did like 3/4 of the shorts, I will be devoting more time to those series : )

Enjoyable collection of PNR shorts

I tried to listen to the whole collection but I can't stand the sound of this narrator. I listened to the first story, then skipped to Phantom Embrace since I couldn't handle her raspy old voice much. Love Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardians and was so sad Yuri fell in the line of duty but still got his Happily Ever After. Cat and her brother Sebastian have such a tragic past, so it's nice to see Cat finally found love after death. I ended up buying the Kindle version and read the book also, which I enjoyed more. I give this story only, 5 stars. The first story in the collection I would give a 4. Didn't listen to the other two.

Phantom Embrace - Excellent Story

I bought this book for Phantom Embrace. I was apprehensive seeing that Kirsten Potter wasn't the narrator. I was right.
Arika must not have ever listened to any of the books. She pronounced names wrong, and the accents were really difficult to listen to. I caught her switching accents on the same person or changing them outright. Marcus is British and she read him as Russian. Cat is British and Arika read her as half British/half American. AND David is South African and he sounded very American. I wouldn't have minded it too much if she could have just kept it together.
This story basically explains some background for Night bound. Doesn't really move the current plot along at all, but is a nice addition. I really really wish Kirsten Potter would consider re re-recording this. I would totally buy it. On to Shadows Strike!

Couldn't stop rolling my eyes 👀.
