Publisher's Summary

When Xander Santos is left at the altar, he can't even drown his woes in alcohol. Newly single, newly pregnant, and facing down a future of single parenthood, he sneaks away from his friends and hits the bar anyway...for a cup of juice. If he can't drink, then at least he can have a moment alone to gather his thoughts.

Teacher Kent Coker is also facing a future without a loved one. He's only in town to settle his late mother's estate and clean out the piles upon piles of junk she left behind. Meeting his former student at a bar is a bit of serendipity, and after his shock at Xander's blatant come-on abates, Kent is only too happy to play the balm to Xander's bruised ego.

There was never supposed to be anything more than one wild night between them. But with Kent planning to stay in town for several more months, and the initial passion between them melting into a true, genuine affection, it's hard to stay away from one another.

There are only two problems: Kent doesn't plan to stay in town forever - and Xander's ex wants back into his life. Will Kent and Xander's fragile new love be worth the cost of fighting for it?

Carter’s Crossing is a quaint little town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where some people go to get away, others arrive to start over, and plenty just find themselves when they’re lost or broken-hearted. This contemporary mpreg series is for adults only and is sure to leave you believing in the magic of true love and happily-ever-afters, and every audio book can be listened to in any order!

Kent & Xander

A wonderfully sweet addition to this series. Poor Xander went through a really tough time and getting to live out his fantasy with his former teacher/crush is just what he needs. Feelings slowly build but there's also misunderstandings and obstacles that they must overcome. The narrator did a good job with all of the voices and the story.

Teacher's Pet

Being left at the alter would impact anyone's self-esteem. Being left at the alter and pregnant is crushing. Omega Xander is left all alone, embarrassed in front of friends and family, while his fiance and baby daddy packs his bags and high-tails it out of town. No message, no letter, no apologies.

Alpha Kent is in town for a few months to settle his mother's estate. When he walks into the neighborhood bar, he is surprised to see a lovely omega, in full tuxedo dress, nursing a drink. Kent recognizes him as a student he had in class about 10 years ago. A new friendship begins.

The scene where our tiny omega faces down his hulking ex is so much fun! I fist pumped the air and laughed out loud. Fortunately, the roadway was clear, as I'm mot sure what other motorists would think of a crazed woman cackling as she sped away in her shiny red Altima.

Narrator Joseph Bader has a lovely, lovely British accent, and a smooth voice that is a pleasure to listen to. However, knowing the southern twang and cadence of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it was difficult to place Bader's proper accent and pronunciations with the more informal southern region. Once I set that out of my mind, I throughly enjoyed the story.

A fantastic 4+ hours!

A perfect short listen. The story was cute and moved at a good pace. The MCs were likable, relatable, and fun, and the narration was outstanding. Easily my favorite Bates audiobook so far.

Xander & Kent

A May December MM read. Kent is Xander's former teacher, whom he had a crush on in school. They do not seem to make sense and are both at a crossroads in their lives. I enjoyed the narrator, his pace, and his accent.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening, but not more then twice a year.
it's like a B

Left at the alter and pregnant.

Xander Santos has been left at the alter. Single now and pregnant but can't drink his sorrows away with a baby on the way. Can a chance meeting in the bar while drinking carrot juice help him take his mind off his problems? Xander sees his high school history teacher, Kent Coker, across the bar. Kent is alone with no one to love. He's in town to sell his family home after his mother passes away. What will life deal this unlikely pair? I once again enjoyed another Carter's Crossing book. Joseph Bader's English accent fit the character's dialog perfectly. I was surprised. Recommend this book and the whole series.

Mr. Teacher

It was amazing how he fell in love with his teacher crush from when he was little. I love it when an Alpha takes care of an omaga when he is having someone else baby.

Good continuation of the series

OK so I liked the characters and the story and I really love the sweetness of this series but this one the audio is weird. First Bader has an English accent and it just doesn't fit and is pretty distracting, then you have Kent calling Zander 'Boy" and it comes off as creepy I'm not sure if its just the narration or not. It's not a bad listen just kinda odd and doesn't fit with the rest of the series.

Loved it<br />

Loved it. Aiden Bates does it again. He really has a talent in his writings. Taking a hard subject like the death of a mother and finding good memories and making more for the future. Finding true love in the mix.
Joseph Nader did an excellent job of narrating this audio.

Heartwarming

This is a heartwarming story Xander has just been left at the alter while pregnant and he sees his old teacher Mr Cocker so he decides to follow his fantasy. They have stuff to deal with but start a friendship with benefits and later. Xander’s ex comes back which causes some problems as he decides he has to be on his own. But soon realises that the reasons he can’t be with Kent are not really problems.

Satisfying listen

I haven't listened to the first 2 books in the Carter's Crossing series, but I had no problem with this as a standalone. I have a fondness for teacher and (former) student stories, and this is a winner. Both men come with complications. Kent has just lost his mother and is riddled with guilt at his "abandonment" of her. Xander has been jilted at the altar and is pregnant. Their passion is immediate, but the real story is in how they work through their issues to reach a satisfying conclusion. As usual, the writing by Aiden Bates is excellent.

I am so used to an American accent that it took me a while to realise that the narrator is British! Anyway, being from the UK, I immediately fell in love with Joseph Bader's voice which is both clear and persuasive.

My Review

Another in the series for one of my favourite authors, I have this whole series of books and enjoyed following the story about Carter's Crossing. You made the place come to life and the towns folk real, keep up the good work
