Does not help prepare you for the GMAT

What would have made Official GMAT Vocabulary 3000 better?

The words covered in this book do not help you for the GMAT. There is no specific vocab section of the GMAT. The verbal section of the test is designed such that even if you don't understand a big word, you can still understand it from the context and aren't penalized. This audiobook is 24 hours long. You are much better off spending those 24 hours practicing questions. Save the limited space left in your brain for things that will actually benefit you on the test.

Has Official GMAT Vocabulary 3000 turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator was fine.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I learned a few good words, but it didn't help with my GMAT preparation which was why I purchased the book.

Probably the most complete GMAT Vocab audiobook!

Any additional comments?

This may not be the only thing you'll need to beat the GMAT and score high, but it definitely helps. I used to listen to them on my half hour commute to and from work and probably added a few hundred solid words to my vocabulary.

BAD SYNTAX, mispronounced words, bad grammar

Bad grammar from the first definition and beyond. Poorly mispronounced common words. Sure this is a list of words but they clearly didn’t take the time to verify syntax. The voices sound clear and confident but the syntax… many definitions are indirectly correct. Not sure if there’s a better option, this will do the job. But I quiver thinking someone is using this to learn English as they will additionally pick up very poor grammar.

some definitions and example sentences lacking

many of the example sentences were the equivalent of saying "my favorite word is _____." Some of the words that were considered advanced were pretty elementary as well. Overall, it did its job and I'll listen a couple times, but it left something to be desired.
