Publisher's Summary

She's Daddy's little girl, but I'll make her a rebel.

They call me a killer - a felon. I spent five years in a medium security shithole.

I swore I'd stay out of trouble, but when I met Abby Rawlings, all bets were off. From the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew I had to have her.

But Daddy dearest is standing in my way. He thinks I'm no good for her, and he's declared her off limits.

Well, I don't give a damn. In the end, I'll make her mine.

Absolutely Delightful!!!

Both Lauren Landish and Melissa Moran knocked this book out of the park! Lauren is an extremely talented author and Melissa is exceptionally talented performer. This is probably my favorite book of Lauren's that I have read or listened to so far. The story was so much more than the typical new adult romances. There are unexpected twists, great suspense, hopefulness, humor, and terrific love scenes. The narrator added so much to this book with her expressions, urgency, and emotions that one would not get in just reading the book. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with a review copy audiobook. This book is a standalone listen and does not end in a cliffhanger.

Good Story But "InstaLove" Too Soon!

My first Lauren Landish audio and overall it was a satisfying listen with a decent plot but the instaLove was way too soon. This is one of those stories that had elements I both liked and disliked.

Dane's character was great. He's just been released from military prison, and due to his charges, most of society looks down on him. He's just trying to get his life back together, but when he meets Abby, he feels a connection and begins to think it is possible for him to find love. Abby's character was just ok.

Overall, a decent story with conflict, plot twists, and some steamy romance. I would definitely listen to another audio by Lauren Landish. The plot moves at as steady pace, but the "instalove" was way too instant. I think it would have been more appealing if it didn't happen right after Abby was attacked. I know it's hard to develop relationships in short stories, but I like better when the characters at least know each other some before sleeping together.

Melissa Moran did a great job with the narration.

Love in the South

“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

I always enjoy Lauren Landish stories, but I really liked this one.
Dane is dishonorably discharged military who just got out of Leavenworth and moved to Atlanta because he had one friend who stood by him and that's where he lived. Right away Dane proves that he is an honorable and loveable man. Determined and desperately seeking to improve his life...an uphill battle.
Abby is a senior in college, southern and spoiled and over protected by her father but sweet and very likable as well. Dane and Abby meet under scary circumstances and they have an immediate connection. I love a hero who is discriminating on his sleeping around activities...especially once the are past college age...I loved Dane.
The twists in this story were such fun..the pacing perfect and kept me drawn in. I didn't want to skip any part of the story.
I loved. the narrator..she was so perfect for each voices, I would make a point of looking for her narration. I recently listened to another Landish audiobook and didn't care for the narrator and it really can make a big difference to me. Keeping using Melissa Moran, she was great!
Worth the time, money and/or credit. This is pro ably my favorite by this author!

Surprised

“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audio book by the author, narrator, or publisher via audiobook boom.com.” This story surprised me. I actually liked it. I was expecting the regular good girl meets bad boy romance but it had a good storyline that was different. I am very grateful that some of the facts on how the military treats the soldiers after they get out were brought out. We as a nation should hold our heads in shame because of how we treat our veterans. We are a free nation because of the brave. Freedom is not free it comes at a cost. Dane was only able to get a job mopping floors. Granted he had a dishonorable discharge but the powers that be were responsible for this injustice. Yet I have another problem with the justice system and society. We send people to jail, they serve their time and yet we make them serve time after they get out because of the discrimination against them because they have a record. Then we say I told you so when they go back to jail. All they want is a chance. The narration was very good. I enjoyed this story.

GOOD IS EVIL AND OFF-LIMITS, THE SAVIOR

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

The books brief synopsis doesn't begin to describe the actual story. There are so many twists and mysteries that keep you listening well into the night. The writing is top-notch, developing well rounded characters and an easy to follow, intricate plot that closes seamlessly with a well deserved HEA; exceptional in an audiobook under 7 hours long.

Melissa Moran does a sound job (no pun intended) with her performance. No distracting individual's voice, rendering male and female interpretations with honesty.

Definitely a TWO THUMBS UP!

Overall a good story

Any additional comments?

Overall it's a good story but there were some inconsistencies that I had a hard time getting past. Abby, a wealthy southern bell has a snobby step mom that treats her like a child and only wants her around her wealthy equals. However, when Abby was in high school she was dating a much older guy, in construction work. Now that Abby's in college, step mom does not want her to hang out with a really smart college girlfriend because she’s from the poor side of town. What’s up with that? Fortunately Abby shows some maturity and stands up for herself. Dane, who falls head over heals for Abby, is a decent sort that has hit some rough patches and is really trying to move forward with his life. I liked his character. The development and twists of the story are good and made it interesting. My guess is that most people can get past the issues I had and would enjoy this book. The narration is great. I think Melissa Moran did a great job with the voices and at bringing the characters to life.

Dane is a sweetheart

Any additional comments?

Really liked this storyline, it upset me a little at how easily Dane could be discarded by the goverment that he served for so many years. But I do love an instalove book, and Dan is just a sweetheart. As far as the narrative goes, I think Melissa did a wonderful job, she has a great range in male and female voices. Not sure if it was me, but as times it did come across a little like story telling them performing, as in it sounded like each word was being read out individually. I did speed it up a little hoping that would rectify the issue. Either way, I enjoyed this audio.
