Publisher's Summary

My power could save my friends - or destroy them.

As I start a new semester at Thunderbird Academy, I have a lot to live up to. News of my sisters' courageous fight against the Ancient evil has spread, and now, everyone expects the same greatness from me.

But all I want to do is:

  1. Find my dad.
  2. Figure out why my magic has suddenly gone on the fritz.

It would be a lot easier if I didn't have to keep dealing with the ever-annoying Aiden Lawson. Shifter, nemesis, ridiculously gorgeous. I don't care how he makes my pulse race, I will not be deterred from my mission.

But the war with the Ancients is just beginning, and now, Thunderbird Academy has become a sanctuary as well as a school. Each attack is deadlier than the last, and when the academy ends up under siege, my friends and I have no choice but to fight.

Am I brave enough to trust my magic to save us? Or will my world come crashing down around me by my own hands?

I'm in a fight for my life, and I, Maddie Hawthorne, have no idea what I'm doing.

Welcome to my year at Thunderbird Academy.

love

I think this my be going in to my favorites list. I love love how this book makes me feel what Maddie is feeling and not alot of books can do that. and the ones that do. Don't always make me feel like the book was to short even though I know this book is almost 7 hours long I want to know what happens next.

Awesome narrator, fun story.

I haven't read very many of this genre, because I typically find teen romance a little silly, but this book drew me in! The Narrator was fantastic and really drew out the emotions in the story. It took a little bit to get into the action, but I'm definitely going to listen to book 2!

Solid fantasy novel

I wasn't sure about the narrator at first, but she grew on me. Overall a fantastic story with a strong female lead, supportive friends, and a slow burn romance that'll leave you chanting 'just kiss already!'

Magic, mystery, suspense, and a slow burn romance!

I listened to this one and was hooked right away! This being the first I've read of Valia Lind's, and I wasn't aware I came in on a spin-off, however, she gave enough descriptions, when needed, that I felt like I knew enough to go on.
The world building was great, and I really enjoyed the characters.
The story has a dark cloud over it as The Ancients had arisen after a long sleep of sorts and were trying to take back the world, each group of magical beings and their territories, as quickly as possible. (Reminded me of the darkness of the Death Eaters when taking over Hogwarts.) The magical community of fae, shifters, and witches are scrambling to fight off these ancients and one young witchling, the MC, seems to have something "extra" that could defeat them, once she gets control of herself and discovers what's making her different.
Enter a hot wolf shifter that appears to detest her & she is assigned to for battle training. Their slow burn romance, turned forbidden romance, is a bit frustrating, but that's the name of the game for slow burn, lol
There really isn't a mean girl for this academy, which I enjoyed. The action, mystery, and suspense really kept me listening and I loved the support characters. However, at the end, I wanted to throw my earbuds with the ending HOOK, aka cliffhanger, for the next book! I need to know what happens!!

Madison is coming back to Thunderbird Academy while most of her friends from last year are in hiding due to the ancients. Others are sending students to Thunderbird like Aiden and his shifter friends. Madison and Aiden have a complicated relationship making strides and taking major steps back. She is learning to get control of her gifts and how to save the students and academy.

Aiden leaves on assignment and returns with a female student attached to him. Can't wait for the next book to see what hppens.

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

The characters were well developed and interesting. The story was very well written and kept me enthralled until the last page. I was not ready for it to conclude!

I’m really looking forward to finding out what will happen next. Here you will find suspense, mystery, adventure, and a touch of romance. It is full of magic and a delightful YA paranormal Academy series that is very addicting!

Great start!!

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m impressed.

The narrator did a wonderful job narrating the story. I felt like she was a good choice to be Maddie’s voice.

The story was very enjoyable. We have forbidden love, fae, shifters, witch, and elemental magic. I absolutely loved it. Looking forward to digging into the rest of the series and discovering what else the author has written. Highly recommend.

So good!

Book 1 of this series was so good! You follow Maddie at school while she tried to settle in to a new normal, there are so many new people at school as they have fled there for safety. The characters are very likable and well defined. I really enjoyed the story and can’t wait to find out what happens next in Maddie’s story!

Of water and moon light

Book 1 based in a academy with witches, Shifters and of magical creatures. To start I was wondering if I have missed a book as it starts in her second year but fills you in. I really enjoy this story and the relationships between the characters. I am looking forward to the next book.

Excellent

Maddie starts a new semester at Thunderbird Academy after helping her sisters fight the ancients . With her Dad missing she hopes to find clues to find him but things don’t turn out quite as she’s planned. Evil comes to the Academy and one of the pupils is helping it break the wards Maddie has to deal with all this as well as her feelings for the sexy Alpha wolf shifter.
Really enjoyed listening to Maddies story and looking forward to book 2 . Sarah Brands narrated perfectly .
