The very first novel by Michael Crichton, the legendary creator of Jurassic Park and ER

Steven Jencks has planned the perfect crime. Working with two skilled associates, he will hit the Reina, a super-luxury hotel off the coast of Spain, and then walk away with the haul of a lifetime. As the ultimate pro, Jencks has even run his plan through a complex computer simulation to account for every possible variable …

Except three.

Their names are Annette, Cynthia, and Jenny. And no computer could ever simulate what these three femmes fatales have up their sleeves.

a mid-1960s novel.... with superb content and a great, fun story. It really is perfect pulp fiction from back in its prime, and was intended to be written that way.
Talks about crime and other fiction ideas ahead of its time... use of a computer, international crime arrangements, etc. and great plot twists.

With a little work would make an excellent screenplay for a modern movie!

More sex scenes than an identifiable plot. I kept listening because the narrator was good.

lots of sex

Although the Jurassic Park genre doesn't interest me, I really liked Michael Crichton's writing in "Airframe" and "The Great Train Robbery". So I thought the John Lange books might be a good read. I bought "Odds On" to check out his early writing. However, after I had read for an hour, I encountered a very graphic "love" scene. I don't particularly care for that type of content, so I normally turn a couple of pages or fast forward 60-90 seconds. When I encountered this scene I did the fast forward, but found it was still going on. Another fast forward got me the last few seconds of the scene. I continued on and found three more similarly long scenes. So, at the 5 hour mark, I just abandoned this book that otherwise had a good plot, characters and writing. It was no longer worth dealing with the distractions. Too bad Audible didn't note that this book contains this type of graphic content. I Will be very thorough in vetting any other John Lange or Jeffrey Hudson books.
