Cursed relics. Paranormal terrorists. Apocalyptic cults.

Only one man stands between the agents of darkness...

After his fiancée is slain by a murderous cult, Delta Force Operator Mark Talon dedicates himself to a new mission - hunting down twisted occultists around the globe and stopping them before they can unleash the forces of darkness upon an unsuspecting world.

In Ice Shadows, Talon must head to Norway to stop a Black Metal musician who plans on using an ancient Norse ritual to trigger a frozen cataclysm.

Occult Assassin: Ice Shadows is a novella and tells a self-contained Mark Talon adventure set after Damnation Code and Apocalypse Soldier. The story works both as an introduction to the series and a continuation of the previous full-length volumes. No plot points or twists of the first book are given away.

This novella was well written, but, since it intended as an introduction to the series, I will refrain from making premature observations until I have read at least the first book, which, at some point I will do, although from what I did read, I suspect that the treatment of the occult is simplistic and shallow. However, I could be, and hope I am, wrong about this.

There were definitely some positive elements in this novella, however. The writing is very good stylistically, and the story telling is also excellent and engaging. While I didn’t see enough of the characters to get a real sense of them, their development in the story, especially that of the main character, were quite competently done.

The narration was excellent and extremely professional in all aspects. I give this novella 3 out of 5 stars, and the narrator 4 out of 5 stars.

Any additional comments?

Occult Assassin is another winner from the talented William Massa. This time, the hero is ex-Delta Force Operator and assassin, Mark Talon, a sort of tough guy character. After suffering the loss of the love of his life, he is driven to hunt down megalomaniac occultists, with their own vision of a world filled with darkness. Great audiobook

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I definitely would. It was fast paced and high excitement with a great performance.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the villains potentially because I have always been a fan of metal music and it was interesting seeing them in this portrayal.

Which character – as performed by James Foster – was your favorite?

Talon, because after two books and one novella listened to by him his voice is that of Talon.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Beware your Frosty Demise!

Loved the past books, don't hate this! Occult Assassin #2.5: Ice Shadows is a short Occult Assassin book. Therefore 2,5. It is 1 hr and 39 mins long. So this is a short. William Massa is given you what he can during the 1 hr and 39 mins.

James Foster is as always good. He shows great voice control while the tension of the storyline builds. His voice is as always helping us into the story. He is as alwys one of the best thing with this series.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a big fan of assassin novels and this was pretty good even though it was short read. The narration was excellent and I will definitely continue with the series. The paranormal aspects was a pleasant surprise.
