Publisher's summary

Elise wishes she were invisible. Roan wishes he wasn’t.

ROAN: At 18, I was a young man winning the game of life. I had a college football scholarship and a cute girlfriend on my arm for my hometown’s annual Halloween party. Forget spiking the punch. The eccentric old scientist who lives in the woods brewed something more potent…and permanently life-altering.

Twenty years later, I’m not a man, I’m a monster. Invisibility isn’t the superpower people think it is. It’s a curse. A condition I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and since the crazy old scientist doesn’t know how I got this way or if I can spread it to others, I’m not just destined to be unseen, I’m also going to be alone. That’s how it has to be.

Until the night I post a grumpy “In Search Of” ad, and get a single reply. I don’t know why Elise agreed to my self-serving demands of complete visual anonymity, but my life was instantly fuller because she did. I don’t have to see her to fall for her. But I know it can never be more than long-distance feelings and inspiration for my right hand.

Until the day Elise surprises me by breaking our anonymity agreement and shows up in my coffee shop…and gets a monstrous surprise in return.

ELISE: People can claim otherwise, but appearances matter. I learned that after an accident left one side of my face heavily scarred. I’m used to the staring. The pointing and whispering. Kids asking their parents if I’m a monster. I’m also used to being alone, because the dating pool dried up the day I lost half my beauty.

I was searching job listings the night I found Roan’s “In Search Of” post. It’s been years since I read a singles ad, and I still don’t know why I did. Call it coincidence, fate, or the universe doing something to balance the scales. It was as if Roan wrote that ad for me.

Every day since has been better than the one before it. My friends think Roan must be a hideous ogre to be hiding behind his “no pictures, no contact” rule. I don’t care what he looks like. Roan and I click in every way–and I do mean every. He doesn’t need to touch me in person to satisfy me. But I’d like him to.

Six months after agreeing to his conditions, I want to break them. I’m ready to take the biggest risk of my life–rejection by the man I love. I want all of Roan Byrne. The good, the sexy, and if he does turn out to be an ogre, the ugly. I only hope that when he sees me, he feels the same way…

A short, steamy, and sweet monster romance with a guaranteed happily ever after!

Love's Invisible Connections

This was a really cute and a bit unexpected quick listen. I love how they met - virtually and in person. Elise and Roan have some hurdles to overcome, and they use plenty of ingenuity to come up with solutions.

The steam was... mmm.... 😍 The supporting cast of characters was intriguing. 😄 They definitely weren't run of the mill!

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Lexi Evans and Logan Anare. I'm fairly certain it was my first time enjoying either, and I really liked both Irish accents, duet narration, and all!

A nice Irish-accented invisible man finds love!

An invisible man with an Irish accent finds love!

5 stars overall, 5 stars story, 5 stars narration

It’s hard for an invisible man to find love, especially if his invisibility is contagious.  This charming, good guy named Roan meets the love of his life online, Elise, a regular lady with facial scarring.  I highly recommend this 2-hour audiobook to anyone who likes steamy paranormal romance with great relationship development.  There are some curse words and a few steamy scenes.  From the first few minutes, I became hooked on the unusual long-distance relationship story and was rooting for the two to really get together.  I love the writing from a new-to-me author.  It has great romantic dialogue and a lovely HEA.

Although the overly simple backstory of the isolated town full of “monstous-looking” but friendly people is rather hard to believe, I quickly fell in love with this quirky town, and I look forward to listening to more books in this series by Karla Doyle.

The duet narration was exquisitely performed by Lexi Evans and Logan Anare.  I haven’t listened to these narrators before, and I was very impressed.  They immediately brought the story to life, and I felt sympathy for the loneliness and difficult circumstances of each character.  Logan Evans has such a sexy Irish accent for the guy, and both narrators have beautiful tones to their voices.  They are excellent at pacing, emoting, and everything.  In addition, the production quality was excellent.

I requested and received a free audiocode from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Visibly Sweet and Steamy

This work was a fantastic short listen, the combination of cute, endearing, and hot as satisfying as cow brain shavings on a cinnamon latte to a zombie (don’t worry; you’ll get the reference.) Elise (which is my middle name, Yeay,) and Rowan are such likable people, their connect warm and easy to see. The monster world building was a lot of fun and I’m eager for more.
Lexi Evans and Logan Anare are the embodiment of love and lust, the perfect duet! Their voices suck you in, touches you, and made me smile as I rooted for this monstrously precious pairing. Honestly, best narrators I’ve ever heard!

Loved it!!

A wonderful sweet book with great characters that you can’t help but love. The audio version is spectacular, Logan’s slight Irish accent was drool worthy, and Lexi has a beautiful sultry, smooth voice that was perfect for her character. Overall, loved this short, but sweet listen!!

Cute, Fun, Original, Sexy

As part of a twelve part series (each with a different author), this can also be a standalone. The plot is quirky with likeable characters and, although extremely short, still
packs a lot of punch that holds your interest and keeps a smile on your face. The old adage that love conquers all especially rings true for this couple.

Duet narration (male reads male parts, female reads female parts) is always a plus.

It’s not what’s on the outside that counts

This was a cute short story in the paranormal realm where high school dreams were lost but love was found unexpectedly. The way Roam and Elsie met was so human over the internet and so cute. The second esteem each had was identical and a lot of humans have those fears on a daily. Even tho this book was in the fiction world and not all human the same message was taken that beauty lies within ourselves and not on the outside. I can’t wait to see what the next book is about! Lexi and Logan nailed the narration on this and Karla wrote a really cute story. Bravo to all of you 💕

Really great short piece

I loved the premise and thought the approach was unique and interesting. The author kept the use of tropes to a well-done, smooth feel especially for the genre.
The characters were cute and felt real.
I would have loved for this to have been developed into a longer, fuller story.
I also would have loved for it to be less intimately descriptive at quite the explicit level it had. I'm not a bit bothered by that, it just narrows the audience with which I can share this, and I think it would go over great (minus that!) with a YA audience.

Overall, I highly enjoyed this listen - I just had to listen when no one else was around, lol.

So cute!

This was such a fun duet audiobook. I met the narrators at a conference this weekend and couldn’t wait to listen to one of their duets. The story was so cute and their performances were wonderful. They had me engaged throughout this sweet romance.
