Publisher's summary

Miguel wants to be noticed.

Miguel Cordero Ruiz always considered himself straight, but his sexy anatomy professor, Dr. Cummings, is making him seriously rethink that. While the professor who lives across the street is supposedly a “bird watcher”, it's rumored he’s really spying on the male students who live in Miguel's building. When rumor is confirmed as fact, Miguel decides to give the professor a show he won’t forget.

Aldrich is afraid of being seen.

Aldrich Cummings has led a lonely existence. That all changes when he sees his gorgeous new neighbor moving in across the street. When he discovers the guy he’s been secretly watching from his office window is not only aware of his audience, but is enjoying it, Aldrich is even more entranced. Miguel is his student, and therefore off-limits, but what the administration doesn’t know won’t hurt them.

It was supposed to be harmless and meaningless voyeurism.

As time passes, the desire between them burns so brightly it inevitably explodes. Both will face consequences if the university finds out what the professor and his student have been getting up to. They will need to navigate the obstacles in their path to find the happiness both have been searching for.

Now You See Me is a stand-alone MM novel. It contains one not-straight Navy vet, one professor afraid of being touched, nosy relatives, nosier neighbors, troublesome colleagues, voyeurism, The Pleasure Chest, binoculars, a Maginot Line made from pillows, and a HEA for two men who deserve happiness.

An interesting student /teacher off limits romance!

I absolutely adored Kirt Grave's audio delivery and narration!
He performed an engaging and captivating narration that held my interest and pulled me right into the story.

This was a gripping age gap, opposites attract romance.
The chemistry between Miguel and Aldrich was intense and palpable, more so considering their off limits attraction.

I liked how the author dabbled in voyeurism making this a unique and enjoyable listen.

Loved everything about it

5 Blue Roses
4 Blue Flames

Narrator Kirt Graves uniquely delivered a flawless narration that will engage all listeners. He is a master of pacing himself, which draws out tension in scenes wrought with angst, frustration, even and joy. This caused a highly entertaining experience and will easily carry listeners through the beautiful layers of this story.

I absolutely loved the references to the anatomical terminology. Aldrich, is an anatomy professor, who gets all lyrical about anatomy when sexually aroused. It created a “close to home images” and “laugh out loud” moments causing loving the sexy nerdy professor even more.

All the characters were very likeable and the narrator did an excellent job in giving them their own voices which enhanced their personalities.

Miguel has a strong personality, and he know what he wants. I liked how he immediately spoke to his friends and asked questions about his sexuality. The writing is fresh with minimum internal conversations and struggles.

I definitely recommend this audiobook.

Happy Listening

hot and heartfelt

wow, never has pervy/slightly creepy been one of my kinks. well, surprise...it is now! I loved the character development, along with a few surprise plot twists. this is definitely on my top-ten list of great books.
kirt Graves, as always, delivers an authentic and distinctive interpretation of each character, male and female. His accent is (to my very Caucasian ears at least) muy perfecto.
Give this a listen - I swear, it's worth every penny

Good story Line

New to me author, so first read/listen for me for Lynn Van Dorn. Love Kirt Graves so decided to take a leaping purchase. I liked the idea of the plot, exploring submission due to fear of touch. liked the age gap. I felt I could have used a bit more character development, and didn't feel a strong bond to either MC. although it was predictable, it was OK. The opening chapter and mid-chapter shifts/entry with place and date were redundant, (the kitchen, the foyer, the bathroom, etc.,) I realize this is just one persons opinion, that part just didn't work for me.

To be seen for your true worth and finding love

I started reading this originally as an ebook ARC a while back and didn't engage with it at the time, though I think that had more to do with my own headspace than any issues with the story as a whole as Lynn Van Dorn always creates rich, complex and quirky characters.
When this finally came out as an audiobook narrated by the wonderfully talented Kirt Graves, I was able to finally pick up this book and delve all the way through to the end of the story as Aldrich and Miguel find their own ways to truly see and be seen while falling in lust, then love. I like how the characters all get their own HFN/HEA in one way or another.
Recommended for lovers of contemporary MM romance with a bit of light bondage and interfering family and friends thrown in for good measure.

WOW this was way sexier then i Expected it to be. The voyeurism aspect was incredible and both of the guys really grew on me as the story went on. I'm so glad they got their HEA. Kirt Graves is always such a pleasure to listen to but he really nailed the character nuances of this book and I loved it.

Age gap, student/teacher

My heart broke for poor Aldrich.
The horrific trauma he suffered throughout his childhood left him feeling broken and unworthy of love.
Miguel was meeting Aldrich helped him solidify some truths about himself, namely the ability to be true to himself concerning his sexuality.
Miguel was such an extraordinary influence for Aldrich, giving him the time and space to deal with his issues in his own way and to finally see himself as worthy of love through Miguel's eyes.
Together they embark on an exploration of themselves and each other which leads to the discovery and mutual enjoyment of the kinky pleasures of voyeurism.
A beautifully touching and emotionally compelling story about facing your fears and overcoming them.
Kirt Graves did an extremely wonderful job narrating and I especially enjoyed Miguel's accent.

Soooo Hot! Kirt Graves is Wonderful!

What a stunningly erotic story!

A teacher-student love affair with a number of unique twists, Lynn Van Dorn’s Now You See Me is amazing from cover to cover. These wonderful, complex characters have fantastic chemistry and Van Dorn doesn’t waste a moment.

Kirt Graves does a spectacular job with the narration. I love his gruff, gravely voice, and his accents are perfectly suited for this one. Simply marvelous!

When a voyeur meets an exhibitionist

I’m on a Lynn Van Dorn kick these days and so was thrilled to see another audio come out. I love Kirt Graves so to see he was narrating ratcheted up my desire to listen even further. Then I listened and I was not disappointed.

At first glance, this book is truly opposites attract. Alrdich is a professor of biology. He lives a very prescribed life, choosing not to face romantic entanglements after the last one went so horribly wrong. After having lost his parents at a young age, he’s alone in the world. He sits in his perch and watches the world go by. Does that make him pervy? Well, if his neighbors insist on doing naughty things with their blinds open, they’re practically inviting someone to watch them.

Miguel served his time in the military and discovered he liked helping people. He wants to become a radiologist and is using the GI bill to get an education. Upon moving into his room close to campus, he’s warned about the pervy prof across the street. His roommate Dev proudly boasts of having gotten Aldrich in trouble. Meanwhile Luna, their other roommate, is less concerned. She’s got her sights set on someone who is too dense to see what’s in front of him. Intrigued at the stories of the teacher across the road, Miguel decides to keep the drapes wide open. The light floods into his room and he enjoys the view. And the knowledge he’s being watched. Yeah, he’s a little kinky himself.

Soon the watching and being watched become an obsession for both men. Miguel’s grades slip and Aldrich worries he might get caught. When they finally meet in person and it’s explosive. Then Aldrich pulls back leaving Miguel flapping in the wind. Not willing to let go, Miguel agrees to this crazy scheme of Luna’s to get back in the professor’s good graces. And into his pants as well.

Miguel is fiery Puerto Rican while Aldrich is plain and reserved. He doesn’t like to be touched and that’s caused plenty of problems in the past. He’s tried at times to push through the discomfort, but it never works. Miguel’s creative solutions intrigue him. Oh, and he might just be falling in love. With his student.

That heightened level of stress carried for most of the book. I kept thinking: they’re going to get caught and OMG what is going to happen then??? Add in some nosy neighbors and meddling colleagues and it all goes sideways. As I’d known it would. But in the end, everything works out. As I’d known it would.

I found both these characters relatable. I yearned to soothe Aldrich’s fear of touch. I wanted Miguel to succeed in school because he’s clearly found his calling. Heck, I even held out hope that Luna would nab her man and I also hoped Jose might find someone special. Not all of those dreams were realized, but enough were that I got my happy ending. When Miguel called Aldrich ‘papi’ my heart might have melted. And when Miguel told Dev, “if someone touches your soul, let them touch you’re a-hole”, I laughed my ass off. This book put me through a wide range of emotions which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. Looking forward to more books by Ms. Van Dorn and certainly hoping to hear more from Kirt very soon.

Unexpected!

So, I read the blurb for Now You See Me and it sounded interesting and well, while I haven't read/listened to all of Lynn Van Dorn's books, the ones I have are among my favorites, so I jumped at the chance to listen to this story and while it wasn't what I expected, I really enjoyed it.

Miguel was all kinds of adorable and sweet and hot and while younger than Aldrich and one of his students, I felt they were on pretty equal ground. Miguel just knew how to give Aldrich what he needed when Aldrich didn't even know it himself, gaining the handsome professor's trust in a way that no one had until then. And Aldrich, well, my heart broke for him at having to deal with his selfish aunt after losing his parents so young. It's no wonder he was such a hot mess and avoided touch like the plague, even if he craved the connection he finally found with Miguel. It wasn't easy and they both made mistakes and I loved that Luna (Miguel's neighbor and friend) was there to point them both in the right direction when they needed it the most. The progression of their relationship was very realistic and I really liked that Miguel was able to push through Aldrich's defenses and that while their relationship had a very unconventional start, it gave way to something deeper, more meaningful as time passed. They were hot together, but it was more than that, they just connected in ways that neither of them anticipated and that was the best part of the story.

This book had the potential to be an angst-fest, but it was offset with the presence and support and comedic relief that Luna, Dev and Miguel's family provided—I just adored them all, by the way—and the hotness that was Miguel and Aldrich together, be it in the bedroom or through their texting/sexting or just being there for each other.

I really liked Kirt Graves's performance, he gave all the characters a distinctive voice, somehow managing to imprint a lot of their personality in it. Also as a Spanish native speaker, I can be very particular over books/audiobooks that have a lot of Spanish in it, but Kirt's Spanish was actually better than I expected, so that's always a good thing.

This book has a bit of very light power play in it and some mentions of attempted rape, so if that's not your thing, proceed with care, but other than that, I have no trouble recommending it.

LOVED IT!

I began impatiently waiting for this audio before it even started recording, when we found out the Narrator. Kirt Graves has become one of my favorite narrators lately. I knew he was going to do an amazing job with one of my favorite books of 2019. He truly brought Miguel and Aldrich to life for me. He made this writers wonderful writing soar and it’s going to be a re-listen for me for sure. Now that I am done tooting Kirt’s praises, I loved Miguel and Aldrich’s story! My heart went out to Aldrich as in the inside he was a lost boy, who was desperately seeking love. He didn’t think or feel like he deserved that love. He’d been pushed away and treated so indifferently for so long, he believed those who weren’t worthy of him. Aldrich broke my heart thinking that no one would ever want stay with him. That nothing lasted forever. Aldrich did deserve love and Miguel endeavored to show him he was worthy of that love, which gave me butterflies. I loved that Miguel went after what he wanted and didn’t take no for an answer from Aldrich. Miguel was such a strong man and I loved his fierce protectiveness of Aldrich, his siblings and friends. Speaking of friends, Miguel’s friend Luna is a total riot, and to be honest, I want to be besties with her! She was so strong willed and fought for the men in her life, and didn’t take crap from anyone! She was an awesome character in this book! Oh! I have to say I adored the chapter headings, they gave me a good chuckle. If you’re looking for a great read with a Professor/student relationship, an age gap, a bit of hurt comfort, with sexy times and some humor tossed in, I couldn’t recommend this book more!

hot, hot, hot!

This story is an incredibly unique take on the teacher-student trope, and I really, really enjoyed it. The story focuses on Aldrich and Miguel. What can really make or break a story for me are the characters, and I found both of these characters very intriguing. Although Aldrich is the older of the two, as well as in the "traditional" power role as the professor, he is very unsure and desperately needs someone to take charge. Miguel might be the younger student, but he is very much in charge. The dynamic between the two was very strong, and incredibly sexy. I doubt I will ever forget to close my bedroom windows after reading this book!

It's a longer story, and the plot is strong. I found it was very engaging, with few lulls. It does have a fair bit of angst, as most of Van Dorn's books do. Although in their personal dynamic Miguel was very much in charge, there is the issue that Aldrich is his professor so that was an important conflict in the story. There were also internal conflicts as both protagonists struggled with their perception of themselves which I felt was really authentic and handled well.

The narration was also very strong. it was clean, well edited, and had great pacing. I didn't love the voices at all times - Miguel's felt a little off to me, but I'm willing to take the blame on that as personal preference. Overall I'd rath the audiobook as a 4.5 stars. Really enjoyable all around!

Steamy, yet sweet.

Lynn Van Dorn certainly knows how to engage a reader/listener! Her characters feel real, sound real and behave pretty much like real people.
Miguel and Aldritch have an interesting dynamic - the former with an outgoing personality (with a 'show you' kink) and the latter, more reserved, (more related to how he'd been treated in the past) but with a side of 'I want to look' kink 🙂. They made such a great couple, especially with Miguel helping Aldritch become more open. Along with the secondary characters - Luna, Miguel's family - this is a really good, low angst romance.
Kirt Graves gives a great performance! I loved his voice choices for the MCs and the pacing was spot on. There were some words that when he pronounced them in Miguel's voice sent really good shivers down my ....
Great way to enjoy ths book!

This was such a beautiful story!

Due to his upbringing, anatomy professor Aldrich Cummings panics when touched and has resigned himself to a lonely life of just looking. Ex-navy, mature-age student Miguel Cordero Ruiz takes Aldrich’s anatomy class and find himself drawn his teacher. With the help of friends, Miguel courts Aldrich by distance and overcomes his panic by ceding control to Aldrich through mild BDSM. Miguel and Aldrich are such rich characters: Aldrich alternating between nervous and aloof, while desperately hoping for more; Miguel steady, forthright and infinitely patient. There’s plenty of wonderful humour and steamy chemistry, but ultimately it’s about successfully rescuing a drowning man and that’s immensely satisfying. I’m so pleased audio narrator Kirt Graves performed this, his sensitivity, nuance and heart shine through - perfect as always.
