These days, Tre Brun is happiest when he is playing basketball on the Red Lake Reservation high school team—even though he can’t help but be constantly gut-punched with memories of his big brother, Jaxon, who died in an accident. When Jaxon's former teammates on the varsity team offer to take Tre under their wing, he sees this as his shot to represent his Ojibwe rez all the way to their first state championship. This is the first step toward his dream of playing in the NBA, no matter how much the odds are stacked against him.

Wow
Ashley pulled out all of her writing tools with this one. The descriptive scenery/imagery will draw you in and the plot will keep you. I’ve listened to this 3 times and recommended it to others. Shout out to Amani for great narration as well.

Beautifully written, and well read
This was a beautiful story of loving and the many emotions the come with it. It’s rich and brooding and reads like a poem.

This was not a format made for an audiobook
I listened to it to and from work, I did not have a hard copy of it- oh how I wished I had. This was not a book/writing style that did well being read without following along. I would not recommend the audiobook without reading along to a physical copy. I will not be recommending this version of this book to anyone.
