Publisher's Summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Corinne Michaels comes a new sexy stand-alone romance novel.

I have two rules in life:

  1. No relationships, falling in love, or attachments.
  2. No sleeping with clients of my interior design firm.

Since the last guy turned out to be married, they’ve been easy-to-follow.

Until him.

Callum Huxley is a ridiculously sexy Brit, and the connection we have the moment our eyes lock scares the ever-loving hell out of me. Thank God I came to my senses before going back to his hotel where I would’ve ended up naked, panting, and unable to forget him.

Thinking I walked away from that night unscathed was stupid. Sure enough, at the biggest meeting of my career waits the CEO of Dovetail Enterprises - him. It might be the most embarrassing moment of my professional life. And breaking my no-client rule might just be the hottest moment of my personal life.

Learning to trust has never felt so good, but falling has never hurt so bad.

There are four stand-alone novels in The Second Time Around Series.

  1. We Own Tonight (Heather & Eli)
  2. One Last Time (Kristin & Noah)
  3. Not Until You (Nicole & Callum)
  4. If I Only Knew (Danielle & Milo)

DNF

It's me, not you. Didn't like the heroine from the get go because I didn't like her grating I'm-such-a-tough-chic spiel going on. Also this is instalust so I figure there's nothing left for them to do with 5 hrs to go but listen to descriptions of boinking and being a tough chica before the blissful end. I'll see myself out instead.

What’s with Andi’s British accent?

This wasn’t the best story in the series. Everyone has a heartbreak. Every woman I know has been cheated on or seriously lied to by a partner (definitely not just men doing the cheating) lots of other issues that both characters have faced are fairly commonly dealt with by people that in general. Nicole acts like her bizarre relationship avoidance is understandable but it’s not. All her friends have overcome similar issues so she knows this. It’s more she thinks she isn’t worth it. The angst feels contrived not my favorite

Shane is awesome but not in enough voice scenes. Andis portrayal of Shane’s accent is horrid and pulls me out of the story over and over. I thought she had done better in other stories.

Anyway it’s part of the series so I listened. If you don’t mind these issues you will probably like it

Opposites

This was a quirky romance with a tight friendship between for very different women. Nicole is the wild one and it took some time to warm up to her. At times I thought her friends were angels for putting up with her. And then she started to grow on me because she really was crazy and funny. When a drop dead gorgeous Brit enters her life the fun begins. Callum was amazing, and while he seemed to be the opposite of Nicole his pursuit of her actually made me appreciate Nicole more.

Nicole and Callum

Nicole had her own hangups about relationships, and never would she sleep with a client. But Callum had a knack for getting his way and found a loophole. But his loophole had an expiration date, namely his short time in America.
Or did it?
These two characters were super hot together and the antics with Nicole and her best friends was quite entertaining.

As for the audiobook, you couldn't have picked a better pair. Shane East is phenomenal. His British accent is swoonworthy and sexy. Andi Arndt is the epitome of talent and it is absolutely showcased in this audiobook.

Hit over 1 dozen POOP referrals in only 4 chapters

I wanted to enjoy this book but it was hard to get past the crass and constant poop references that was supposed to be disguised as humor(?). I was willing to look past the sexually aggressive, pushy heroine who ran for the hills the minute the man she was propositioning said yes (this made no sense to me), and after the 18th poop reference, I finally gave up trying to listen to this book, That was even AFTER referring to mini marshmallows as unicorn poop and implying being fed them. Add to that the constant self-involved inner dialogue that rarely involves a conversation with the Hero making it a very boring book that has me banishing it to my DNF list.

Great series!

I loved this book, but not as much as the previous two in the series. I really liked Callum and Nicole together. I think they were a perfect balance. I cannot wait for Miles's book!!

Andi did again

Female character is hilarious, Andi did an awesome job as usual. I didn't like the female voice by the Male narrator much but overall loved the story.

“British” accent

Was very close to returning this book as the “British”accent is dreadful but continued to read. I am English and found the accent putting me off
