Publisher's summary

How will the Victorians handle a zombie apocalypse?

Not all heroes are heroic...in fact, some are outright dastardly.

After being expelled from Eton, Jack Strapper is tricked into joining the army and posted to an Irish cavalry regiment in the false belief that it'll be safe.

However, he's horrified to discover the nation's already amidst an ongoing apocalypse. Worse still, his unit's commanded by a mad colonel who's intent on making him fight.

He was told it would be all pretty girls and parties. Oops! How will the now Captain Strapper cope, knowing a million victims of the potato famine are roaming the land as zombies?

Yet, after an astonishing run of incredible coincidences and good fortune, he soon builds a reputation as an intrepid warrior. But not all are fooled.

There is one officer, Major Lynch, the regiment's most decorated soldier, who's taken a disliking to the young upstart. Refusing to believe the tales of heroics, he's disgusted by the way his comrades fawn over this boy who can barely even hold a sabre, never mind single-handedly vanquish dozens of foes.

And why are there no living witnesses?

After an unfortunate incident with his wife, Lynch now holds a personal vendetta and will stop at nothing to expose Jack for the coward he really is.

If you enjoy a zombie military series and a hilarious antihero, you'll love the historical twists in Not Dead Yet. Get it now.

I just needed a few extra details

The main character was so unlikable, which I’m guessing was intended, and that kinda made it fun for me, but no one has ever been as lucky as him either! I need the horse shoe he’s hiding.

Anyway, where did the zombies come from?!

Different

The story is weird and very little zombie action. The last couple of chapters were the best as this is when we started getting action. Until that point it was all about a weasel. Loved the narrator as he kept me going and listening to this. Great job.

Humorous and Irreverent

Not Dead Yet: A British Zombie Apocalypse Series, Book 1

You will need a sense of humor (ideally an understanding and apreciation of British Humour) but if you have one, this will make you laugh and is thoroughly entertaining. Irreverent and a little crazy.
I loved this audiobook after the first 45 minutes and couldn't put it down. Really looking forward to book 2 in the series.
Narration is in general good , but in places audio quality could be better.

Pick up a copy and meet a new and different hero.

Not Dead Yet

The story definitely had promise, but the narration was very bad. It was not done in a sound booth. Background noise made it hard to listen to and enjoy. I do not like to give bad reviews like this! I was given this for free for an honest review.

Strangely you want to root for the coward

I recieved this book free for an unbaised review.

Wow, a completely different take on the zombie apocalypse. The story revolves around Jack Strapper, a very reluctant soldier in the British Army who has been sent on what was supposed to be an easy assignment to Ireland. Which Jack appreciates because, well, he is an ubeleviably spoiled brat and and even bigger coward. Set just after the Potato Famine the dead of Ireland are now rising from their graves and terrorizing the country side. You will find yourself rooting for Jack even though at the same time being disgusted by the cowardly way he gets by on sheer luck....and everyone knowing the truth becoming zombie food.

The narrator does an extremely good job at being engaging and enertgetic throughout the performance. My only comment in the negative is that his performace would have been more enjoyable if it were read in an isolation booth insetead of a larger space. At times the room noises were too noticeable and distracting. I would still highly recommend the book and am looking forward to the next in the series.

The wrong wife

I loved this world, with its Victorian sensibilities and rascals juxtaposed with zombie horror. It was very much Flashman and Romero in a blender that was incredible! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Narrator

I'm sorry but I couldn't get past the first five mins due to the narration.
