Publisher's summary

Despite the popular theology of our day, Christians should not expect to get out of experiencing the tribulation or the end times. Nowhere in the Bible does the Lord promise us this, say Michael Brown and Craig Keener, two leading, acclaimed Bible scholars. In fact, they say, Jesus promises us tribulation in this world.

Yet this is no reason to fear. In this fascinating, accessible, and personal book, Brown and Keener walk you through what the Bible really says about the rapture, the tribulation, and the end times. What they find will leave you full of hope. God's wrath is not poured out on His people, and He will shield us from it - as he shielded Israel in Egypt during the 10 plagues. So instead of taking comfort in what God hasn't promised, take comfort in the words of Jesus: He has overcome the world, and we live in his victory.

Great Paper Book - Too many verbal Bible citations

This is a great book for reading in written format. It is thoroughly-researched and packed with Bible support. If you want to learn about the flaws in dispensationalism and the Left Behind series of books I highly recommend you get this book.

That said, this book in Audio format is a very difficult listen. The Bible citations spoken out time and time again totally interrupt the flow of good arguments. The paper book was simply read into Audible format without any thought given to how best to transalte the great content from written to verbal format.

Get this book in paper format. Eight hours of verbalization should have been cut back to four hours or less. I hope audio version 2, a highly abridged reading follows.

Breaking granite

First, I wanna get one thought out of the way..... Why can't all ~200 of my audiobooks have this narrator? I've heard a few good ones, but he is absolutely fantastic. A master of reading outloud.

OK, so I'm a 61 year old modern day western taught Christian. In fact, a preacher's kid. So pre-trib is deeply rooted in my theology. But recently a brother handed me a copy of "Victorious Eschatology". It's an amazing book in its own right, and it succeeded at cracking and fracturing my pre-trib bias. But it left me unfinished, can I say? Frustrating, to be honest.

But no worries, because this book, and especially in audiobook format, cleared up the mess. I mean it too. I would have never predicted that I could get there to here so completely and wholely. What a wonderful job of teamwork between the two authors cowriting!

I'm free now, and I didn't even know that pre-trib was such a burden. But it was.

Mind blown!!

Having been a pre-trib rapture teacher myself for so many years, this book was challenging, compelling and very insightful. A MUST READ for any student interested in and pursuing a balanced understanding the end times regardless of your position.

Excellent

Michael Brown and Craig Keener are impressive scholars of primitive Christianity. Both are great communicators and both were believers in pre tribulations rapture. Here they both explain why don’t believe it anymore and why this belief makes the Church weaker.

An excellent book.

Historic Premillennialism is a minority view today, but from New Testament times until the time of Augustine, it was the prevailing view. Brown and Keener show that it is the only view that is completely consistent with the New Testament.

Many people hate this teaching, because they are afraid of going through the Tribulation, and would rather they didn't have to. But if you ARE going to have to go through the Tribulation (and you are), wouldn't you rather be prepared?

Postmillennialism was an aberration that crept into the church in the 4th century. Dispensationalism was an aberration that crept into the church in the 9th century. The Bible teaches neither. Brown and Keener carefully explain what the Bible's teaching on eschatology really is.

Excellent. Sound doctrine. Biblically accurate.

The person who said there are too many scriptural citations and left a 1 star review needs to stop listening to audio books. This book is one of the best resources for proving that the rapture theory is a false teaching. I have listened to this book several times and will listen to it over and over. I’m smart enough to know how to use a pause button and write down the scriptural reference. Apparently, the 1 star clown cannot. Get this audio book! Ignore the technologically challenged crybaby. Look up the author on YouTube. His lectures and interviews are a great companion resource to this audiobook. Do yourself a favor and disregard the whiner with the 1 star review. If they can’t handle the audio version, the problem is with them. Get this audiobook.

This book changed my view of eschatology.

I used to be pre-trib. I now see that my former stance cannot be defended biblically.

Factual use of the text.

This book looks at the biblical text and not mens theories. Explains the scripture clearly a well written book.
