Publisher's Summary

Lia needs ANSWERS from beyond, NOT matchmaking!

When 20-something Lia’s grandmother dies, her life is knocked upside-down. In order to satisfy the terms of her inheritance, Lia is forced to move to the family’s apartment complex in the scenic mountain town of Applebarrow, leaving behind her dead-end job and long-term boyfriend, Jason. While she’s happy to fulfill her Granana’s unusual dying wish to play social director to the eclectic group of tenants, she’s surprised to discover they are not what she was expecting.

Her days as an RA in her college dorm were inadequate preparation for personalities such as a jealous librarian who names her Thanksgiving turkeys, a charmingly naive mechanic who thinks New Wave is beach music, and a volatile menopausal woman who claims to be a delicate flower.

To add to the mayhem, she meets Logan, an attractive young bartender with a penchant for rescuing her from absurd antics, such as losing her phone to a raccoon and thinking Long Island Iced Teas contain little alcohol. As Jason’s behavior becomes increasingly suspicious and erratic, Lia can’t help being drawn to Logan’s thoughtfulness, wit, and intense blue eyes.

As she adapts to her new community, secrets and lies emerge, and Lia wonders what the deceased, AND living, people in her life are hiding. Working to uncover the evidence, Lia hopes a wacky, unexpected visitor from beyond will provide the answers she craves - before she loses her grip on reality, and the love of her life.

Nobody Tells Lia Anything is Book 1 in the Spooky Matchmakers series.

A Ghostly Granana Rom-Com

This was definitely one of the most entertaining reads I've had this year. In fact, I had so much fun with the printed version that when I saw there was an audio version available, I couldn't wait to give it a listen. I was definitely not disappointed with this thoroughly amusing story.
Whatever genre you prefer you should be able to find something in this one: paranormal, mystery, rom-com, family issues, small town living, wealthy heiress ... there's a little bit of everything wrapped up in a laugh- out- loud funny story that keeps delivering chuckles and surprises from start to finish.
Scott has created a full cast of characters I recognized from my own life, from the naive and trusting heroine to her melding Granana, hunky and ever helpful Logan, manipulative Jason and the whole gang at the Pentagon Place apartments. They're quirky, sometimes obnoxious and often self-absorbed, but together they are a community- even an extended family, and I came to love them all during the course of the book.
If you're looking for a light-hearted, sweet story for a vacation ride along, you can't go wrong with this one.

Great characters, Living and dead!

Love Carol’s stories. I was thrilled to see she had another series starting and this included some ghosts.

Lia’s grandmother passes away and leaves her the estate... with one condition. Lia must move into an apartment complex and become the property manager / social director for the tenants. Confused by the request, Lia obeys and moves to Applebottom, VA to fulfill her Granana’s wishes. She leaves her boyfriend back in Richmond. As the story unfolds, Lia has to figure out what she really wants out of life. Does she want to move to Europe or does she want to stay in this small town? And who does she see this happening with? And how can she do this with her Grandmother’s ghost occasionally showing up? The cast of characters is hysterical. They are from all walks of life and have such distinct personalities. Can’t wait to see where the next one goes. The narrator did very well differentiating between so many people with so many distinct accents. It was easy to follow who was speaking. She seemed very enthusiastic about telling the story as well. Loved it. Def laugh out loud!

Interesting book one

No matter what I say after this, I did enjoy this book. Very much.

Okay, paranormal chick lit is a new genre for me. I must confess though - I did not care much for Lea. This book was more about Lea being an idiot than people not telling her anything. I mean, she was in a five year relationship and did not see it for what it was. Ugh.

Her move to "the Pentagon" was a good one for her, even if she was prompted to do so from the grave. I must add that I loved all of the characters living in the residences. They really elevated the story.

The narration was my favorite part. There were a host of characters with a host of ages and they all came across beautifully.

This is the first book in a new series and there was enough good stuff in it to make me come back for book two (especially if Lea is not the main character.)

Several LOLs

Nobody Tells Lia Anything is a must listen if you enjoy a good light paranormal chick lit. The cast of characters are great fun with Lia and Granana leading the way. I got strange looks from time to time when laughing out loud at their antics.

Fun and funny but of fluff

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this book up, but I got an enjoyable, gossipy bit of fun. The ghost was a ton of fun and it was a great, wacky cast. I got a little tired with her wishy washing over a certain decision it was clear she needed to make. But that was my only complaint. It was clean and fun and I would easily recommend it.

Such Fun!💜

I was given the opportunity to review a copy of the book, NTLA back in the Spring and loved it. I am such a fan I mentally twerked like a twenty-something instead of like the *cough-something I actually am, when I learned other members of Pentagon Place have stories itching inside Carol Maloney Scott's brain.

So when CMS presented a promo of the audio for NTLA, I jumped! I was like a kid at Christmas and couldn't wait to hear from Lia again along with the misfit community of PP, and of course, Granana.

The narrator did a great job, but unlike the book, sometimes you didn't know what Lia was saying out loud or thinking and muttering to herself. A lot of that was my most favorite part. However, that is NOT the narrator's fault. I mean, it isn't like she could pause while reading and say, "okay, Sharonica, this bit is italicized," although that would be cool AF. Just sayin'!😂

It was fun, made me giggle, cringe, eye roll, nod in understanding, and feel indignant at all the appropriate times (you will understand when you read/listen).

Awesome Audible! 😍

Subgenre mashup!

I was drawn to this book because of the title. It is exactly what it implies!: RomCom, paranormal, and chick lit. It's a light-hearted, fun story about Lia, who ACTUALLY never really knows what is going on. She is always left out of the loop and as a result finds herself in some strange situations. Meanwhile, paranormal happenings help guide her along as well as make for some funny dialogue.

I was a bit skeptical about the narrator at the beginning but as the story progressed and new characters were introduced, Rosie O'Toole really made the story an enjoyable listen. I did have a few LOL moments. Cute story!

Fun

The story line is gentle and funny, not necessarily laugh out loud, but definitely involves a lot of quiet chuckles.

It starts with Lia's receiving a bequest from her grandmother, whose ghost adds an additional level of interest and chaos , as she makes no bones of her opinion of Lia's boyfriend, but can't tell Lia why because of certain restrictions on what ghosts are allowed to do, breaking these rules results in Lia's grandmother getting on the wrong side of celestial law.

I enjoyed the fact that much of the story includes people's complex relations, and no i don't really mean everyone jumping into bed with each other as in a farce, or maybe I do. I mean the silly hangups, likes and dislikes etc of a group of people that you quickly start to feel you really know. Poor Lia spends a lot of time trying to make sure the tenants in the apartment complex are happy and getting on together while having no idea of their quirks and friendships, with hilarious results.

The narration is very american, and why not, the narrator has no problem bring the different characters to life .

Having heard this audio book, I will definitely be reading and listening to more books from the author.

Read it, preferably while holding a Long Island Iced Tea, I think you will like it .
