Publisher's Summary

He was perfect. Denim blue eyes, a dazzling smile. And he hadn’t sent me a picture of his junk. Which is about as rare, these days, as a dodo.

When Sloane met Myles, everything fell into place. He loved a martini almost as much as she did, shared her passion for four-cheese pizzas, and made her laugh harder than any episode of Friends. She’d found 'The One' at last, and she could finally delete Tinder, forgetting all those waste-of-space men she’d never have to date again.

But then she finds out that Myles has a secret. A very big one.

The fairy tale is over. Her heart is blown to smithereens. Drowning her sorrows in Ben & Jerry’s can only get Sloane so far before she has to decide.... Can she learn to love herself more than she loved the love of her life? And what if, after everything, she’s got Myles - and his secret - all wrong?

Inconsistent character with odd story line

The main character is supposedly a "feminist" to the point she won't change her last name when married, but when she thinks she might have been cheated on she falls apart and blames herself allowing herself to be gaslighted numerous times. But then her feminist side comes back to the extreme when discussing baby options. I still have no idea the purpose of this book. I hate not finishing a book but I was struggling to finish this. This just doesn't flow well and too many things just "happen" and end up okay.

disappointed

I was hoping this would be a fun, romantic comedy but it was more dramatic and heartbreaking than anything. the story was compelling and held my attention but I was sad reading it.

The most annoying American accent

Made worse by an awful attempt at a posh English one. Just couldn’t listen to it! Ergh. Serves me right for not sampling first.

Nice continuation

I loved that this was the other side to a story I had already listened to. Revisiting characters we’d already met.

a lovely listen!

a lovely book. nothing ground-breaking, but a great bit of light relief.

Narrator is quite grating; possibly not a great idea to attempt so many accents - it was distracting and made it feel a bit... amateur.

terrible

The narrating was so annoying I was skipping through just to get the jist of what was happening. The accents she attempted were so bad I was cringing. She sometimes went in and out of them at the wrong times, was running out of breath, not annunciating etc. In the end I couldn't listen anymore but what I did hear sounded like a predictable story and try-hard humour.

Comedy?

Not really sure why it has laugh out loud comedy on the cover as it was humorous in places but not a laugh a minute. The storyline was quite dull sadly although I liked the characterisation. Narrator did a good job until she went all Dick Van Dyke!

Fun, witty some adorable secondary characters

Light-hearted fun - my first book by Sophie Ranald - I'll certainly look for some of her others provided they have a different narrator.
Good read with some adorable secondary characters.

On to the Narration - just no.
I know the narrator must have been a difficult casting decision as the main female character is Canadian (although she sounded American throughout the book) apparently, the narrator IS English which is astonishing as her Male London accent was worse than anything Dick Van Dyke managed and some of her other UK accents were .... deeply dodgy.

Actually enjoyed it!

I bought this book because it was on sale and I was in need of a nice, easy listen! I found aspects of it quite frustrating - I kept wanting to shake the main character! But overall, I found it really gripping and would recommend it if you are in the need for some light-heartedness!

Refreshingly different

A lovely read entering a real world courtesy of the author showing the lives that are weaved within life’s rich tapestry. Emotional. Pleasing. Funny.
