Publisher's summary

It has been 13 years since the Fourth Crusade captured Constantinople. Father Michael has spent those years exterminating the supernatural creatures that once infested the city. Shortly after returning home to Provence, he stumbles upon a nest of vampires, creatures his order believed they had driven from Europe. Alone and cut off from his brother hunters, he turns to Enik, an aging knight tormented by guilt over his actions in the Crusade. For them both to survive, Michael must initiate Enik into spiritually dangerous supernatural secrets that his order has guarded for centuries. He will also learn that the penitent knight and a centuries-old vampire know secrets that his own order kept hidden from him.

An exciting tale of vampires and paladins

Ill admit that there is probably subtext here that i missed, still it was a great read just for the surface story.
The narration felt somewhat wooden, but after getting used to the delivery it was a serviceable performance.
Can't wait to see what the author has planned next.

Deus Vult

An interesting look into faith and it’s many forms in a compelling setting and narrative.

Loved it

Great fantasy horror story that covers a complex setting with morally grey, believable characters. My only complaint is that the audio editing occasionally leaves a word cut off, or an oddly long pause. I enjoyed this a lot and can't wait for more from this author

Absolutely Loved This

I've read-listened to the other works by this extremely talented author and narrative, and all of them are unique and fascinating. He is one of the authors I reread and discover turns of phrases I didn't fully appreciate the first time around. Jerry's narrative performance is as compelling as his writing. Bottom-line - his work is wonderful. Give yourself an enormous present and go find and listen to more.

Page turner

Isaac Arthur sent me here and at first I was let down that the story wasn’t about futurism. As the plot progressed I wondered if I made a mistake as the genre is not my usual comfort area, although I do listen to fantasy occasionally. Space vampires come to mind specifically the book Blindsight by Peter Watts. I must note I have slogged out Anne Rice and have made my way through the Vampire TV shows.

As the story continued I quickly became vested and interested in a new take on an old story. I enjoyed the pacing and was bemused by the turns. Overall I am pleased with the story and enjoyed the narration by the author. I could definitely read a sequel or prequel.

Straightforward and compelling.

Found this book through the author's youtube channel. A rare exploration of the crusades. Loved the characters, and though the ending was a bit cheesy for my taste, the ride was worth it. Ottonious' character in particular gave me a lot of inspiration for a creative project of my own.

Thanks for the read, Jerry.
