Really good read!
I enjoyed the book and found it sexy and suspenseful. Other reviewers have complained that Yvette was too weak or a ninny, but I think that's unfair. Sure, at the beginning of the book she's self-deluded and has a lot to learn, but she's only twenty-three and has had her life interrupted with a boatload of trauma. She grows up considerably in the course of the book, and that character development was one of the things I liked. I always enjoy Jim Frangione's narration.

Big disappointment!
This new series begins with Cannon and Yvette's story (Cannon showed up in Getting Rowdy, Love Undercover series book 3). Cannon had such potential for a great story unfortunately Lori Foster didn't make it happen. Yvette is (I won't actually say too stupid to live) is too lame, no backbone, always feeling like everyone is pitying her. And, with 3 hours left in the book I don't see a miraculous improvement for her character. Not much action or suspense, plenty of tiptoeing around a tepid romance. I can only hope the next book in the series picks back. The 1st series is Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor, 2nd is Love Undercover and now Ultimate. The narration is great for these three series. Actually I probably wouldn't have made it through the first chapter of No Limits without returning otherwise.

Dumb, Dumb and Dumber
***SPOILER ALERT***
There is a reason I haven't gotten the last couple of Lori Foster books - this book reminded me why. The last half a dozen or so of her books - the female lead character has just become dumber and dumber. This one about takes the cake. And our hero? Well he and his good buddy (another future hero in another book to come) are in a scene where Mr. Hero of this book KO's one of the bad guys that is threatening the dumb chick that put herself in danger - even though she is supposedly being stalked - because hey - she needed some fresh air and time to regroup after believing a bunch of crap told to her by a chick that was after her man (And who does she believe? The man who has consistently shown his honor and intentions toward her. Uhh...no...she believes the jealous chick. Yeah - that makes sense). But, I digress, so the two hero-guys are in this scene - the good guy #1 has knocked out the bad guy and the other good guy is hanging around to see if everything is cool. So good guy #1 starts making out with the little lady and hero #2 seems to be fascinated with that. Meanwhile, the bad guy comes around and since no one seems to be paying attention to him, takes off and eludes the cops.
I have said it before and it bears repeating. If the main characters have to do really bone-headed things to advance a plot - in my opinion - that is lazy writing.
As regards the men in this book - I actually like the hero quite a bit. However, hero #2 - Army - talk about a jerk. Can't keep it in his pants - and seems to be obsessed with being as perverse in his pursuits as possible. Don't know if skanky is really a guy word - but it really fits him.
So, at this point I am waving the white flag on the absurdity of this sort-of plot. Nothing worse than dumb characters. Save yourself a credit on this one. Wait for a Linda Howard or Nora Roberts book. Those two NEVER write a dumb female lead character!

What Happen LF ?
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes Listening to this audio was time well spent because of the Narrater which I like a lot and because I love Lori Foster books..but I was really expecting More action for this story line .. For example I was expecting for Evette to have more of a stronger character .. She was made such a ninny.... Other then that it was okey .. Could have been better though .. Lori Foster you are still a Great Author..
Would you ever listen to anything by Lori Foster again?
Yes of course . Always .. Can not wait til her next book on this serious.
Which scene was your favorite?
Sorry did not have any favorites on this book.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
Different character for Evette
Any additional comments?
I still enjoyed this book..

Not all that deep, but entertaining
First, I want to say that the narration was awesome. I was really stunned when I read the negative comments about the narration. Jim Frangione is one of the most talent narrators out there. As far as the novel? It was ok, not very emotionally engaging but somewhat entertaining. I found myself getting irritated that the Heroine, who clearly suffers from PTSD, as a result of several incidents three years past, never sought any kind of counseling; the possibility or suggestion is never even mentioned. I feel like this was a irresponsible oversight by the author. Other than that, the story was ok, especially since it was included in the romance package. -V from Kansas

Good MMA fighter romance
3-3.5 STARS
Unfortunately, I finished this right before bed the other day and was very engaged the next day (although I did rate it when I finished reading) so I wasn't able to write the review for this story until now.
Overall, I liked the story. I liked Yvette but she was way too hooked on her past and determined not to be something that she never really was. Cannon was likable but had his own issues. This is the first book I've read by this author and I liked it enough that I may try more of her work in the future.
Cannon is a MMA fighter that's going for the championship and he's just finished a fight when he visits his hometown. He and Yvette share a past in which some bad guys wanted to do bad things to her and her grandpa and Cannon helped her. The encounter traumatized her and she went from a girl that used to be head over heals for Cannon and flirting all the time to someone way more serious who decided to move to California. When Yvette's grandpa died, both Yvette and Cannon are willed an inheritance which brings them back together.
When Cannon sees Yvette for the first time in 3 years he decides that he wants her. It's just too bad that he didn't decide this earlier because he's already picked up his hook-up for the night and has to dump her for Yvette...which doesn't go over very well. What I really didn't like about this is that Cannon is known as the "Saint" because he always treats the women so well....unfortunately, Cannon treating these women with kid gloves just encouraged them to be uber bitches and cause Yvette so much more trouble than it should have. I think my biggest thing I didn't like about the story were the skanks! Almost all of the non-MC women were the worst bitches and skanks and were just disgusting...I mean EW!!! Outside of this, Cannon isn't too bad and he does stop sleeping around once he decides he wants Yvette, it's just a VERY close thing.
Once Cannon decides that Yvette is going to be his, he does have to be patient and he does really well at that. Yvette hasn't had things easy and has some issues that Cannon has to help her get past while convincing her (slowly) that he wants her and that they're good together. Things are hampered a bit by a stalker Ex of Yvette's and some other things that are going on. Things do get resolved nicely and the story ends with Cannon and Yvette heading towards and HEA together.
This was an enjoyable story. I liked the characters and all but I will admit that the men's pure skeeviness (and the skanks they did stuff with) was a bit of a put-off. Thankfully Cannon stopped sleeping around when he saw Yvette. Yvette herself was a pretty good heroine. I liked her...sometimes wished she'd have had a bit more backbone but she wasn't annoyingly weak or TSTL. Overall, I liked the story but it just didn't come together well enough to rate higher. :)

I always like books read by Jim. and this is no exception. The story itself was great although I have to admit the love between the two seemed abit slow . Definately worth 5 stars
