I loved listening to this book on our way to glacier national park.

A few questions I have at end of book but thoroughly enjoyable

So descriptive and loved the reader

Great level of detail and suspense building for a tragedy that’s hard to fathom living through.

Stunning book and narration

Loved this book- well researched and detailed. Did not appreciate how 99% of the women were depicted as tearful and hysterical, while most of the men were brave and calm, but that may be related to the bias of time it was written.

Gripping

This was a great story and one I will have on top of mind days to come. Sad and thought provoking.

Important Book. Well done IMO. Gave enough detailed information but young people today may be looking for something more graphic. I hope not, but thats what the world has come to, - not to sound cynical - the ever-desensitizing world of violence, and things, and news, and internet, videos of crap-full of crap they think we need to see, and FAKE sure don’t help. This true very sad story is about - HUMANS- namely white people - and Im white - who need to realize - the Wild is Animal, Is Real, is Nature - its not for human to change for their enjoyment, or take a selfie! My God. Grow a brain. If 1967 was like this - just think how 2025 is now! Either we’ll die from being stupid, or the Animals will slowly die off, because humans ARE STUPID a-lot of times, but mostly GREEDY. It’s not a 7-deadly sin for Nothing! Stop thinking real time out there, is just like on your screen! It’s right there in front of you, to be killed by. And if it’s human, then oh my, you have to actually speak with words. Can you - if you aren’t typing it? Can you say in person what you type in private, on your screen? And if you do, what did it sound like later, in your head? Remember - actions breeds consequences. Make sure you respect nature, because it IS your friend…not yours to toy with. Respect all those who defend it as well! Pay attention to the author’s words here. Finally, when it was the silence, i thought - ‘To some, it would be deafening, & not appreciated.’ I say - “be glad you can hear nature at all… it may be gone before you know it. We’ve invaded their territory!” Even if we die before we know what nature becomes… doesn’t mean you should not care!

This story is told in a respectful and non-sensational way. Clear and factual but none the less riveting! I was generally familiar with the broader facts of this shocking incident but not at all with the details. I feel so much pain and sympathy for these poor women, their friends and their families but also great empathy for these incredible animals forced to navigate safely in their natural habitats alongside our human presence. Also, the audio performance was very, very good.

Clear and exciting story telling.

I had heard on a podcast that this was a good book and I'm glad I listened. The way the author wrote this story was incredibly engaging. And I found myself drawing many parallels to the good and bad decisions I've made in my life. This is a tragic story but it really made me contemplate about how I should make future decisions. There are a lot of important lessons to be learned here.

This book was better than I expected.

I’m fairly new to Jack Olsen books, despite being a huge true crime fan and him being a prolific true crime author. I LOVED this book! It’s got just the right amount of each of backstory, details of the events, and closing points. The narrator is the best I’ve heard, and I typically listen to at least one book a week and have for years. He doesn’t try to “perform,” he just reads the book with the perfect amount of emotion and variation in his tone. No fake southern accents or attempts at doing male vs. female voices, thankfully. I will definitely be looking for additional books read by him.

Best Audiobook I’ve read in a Long Time!
