Publisher's Summary

What happens when the cute mountain man you made out with in an ice-fishing shack turns out to be your brother's best friend? A whole lot of awkward, that's what.

Maggie's mind is reeling when she discovers the guy she became tangled up with at Marv's Bait & Tackle isn't a stranger like she thought.

The big snag: Sam and Maggie's chemistry is hot enough to melt ice, which makes keeping their secret far more difficult than either expected. Especially when one of them decides they want this arrangement to be more than just a catch and release.

Amy Daws does it again! I loved Wait with Me so I was anticipating the release of Next in Line and it was everything I wanted it to be. I can't decide if I love Sam more than Miles but they are both PERFECT! Maggie is a little lost and has her priorities a little messed up but she figures it out, She is a really fun & spunky character. I'll admit I wanted to smack some sense into her a few times. I loved the meet cute in this book, it was funny and the chemistry was so strong! Sam is a great guy, he is sweet and protective with a smart, mature head on his shoulders. I love mature characters in books and low drama, especially dislike drama just to give a story some excitement and Amy's level of drama is perfect for me.

The narration was PERFECT!!! Erin & Teddy are my favorites so I knew it would be amazing!

Love It!!

Amy Daws never fails to deliver! She packs humor into every situation. I laugh soo much in her books that I have a side ache. Next in Line was no different. I absolutely loved the chemistry and dynamic between the characters. I also loved that we got to enjoy Myles and Kate in this as well. I love the world she has created here. Fantastic read and well worth a credit.

Narration is crazy good! Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton Blow me away. They own these roles and never look back! I would listen to Erin Mallon all day long. You can never go wrong with these two!

Get ready to be grabbed by these characters, hook, line and sinker!

I loved how Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton brought these characters to life! I was excited to get Sam’s story. Maggie came into his life unexpectedly and knocked him off his feet. He was immediately drawn to her and I found myself smiling to myself and laughing out loud at their meet cute. They didn’t know each other but they were drawn to one another. Poor Maggie had a rough go of it and was trying to prove something to her ex. Sam got caught up in her pursuit. Not that he was complaining! I enjoyed the ease they had with one another and when they put two-and-two together and learned who they were, they had to reevaluate some. But Sam didn’t let that deter him from getting to know Maggie and spending time with her. Their story was sweet, sexy, fun and exciting. I think you’ll also fall for this book hook, line and sinker! Be sure not to miss out and grab your copy!

ARGH!

Spoilers ahead

It took me so long to finish this book. Maggie is a bloody idiot. She is in Boulder, Colorado looking for things to do that will make her seem more adventurous and less "basic" to her football player ex-boyfriend. Sam meets her in a bait and tackle shack where is in waiting in line to buy bait for ice fishing. He helps her when another guy in the shop teases her and makes inappropriate comments. They fish together and then later on realize that Maggie's brother works with Sam. They make the decision to not tell Maggie's brother they had met before.

Maggie is stupidly naive about everything. She is unprepared for everything she tries to do to become more "adventurous" and has to rely on Sam for everything. When she went ice fishing she didn't have any equipment or the appropriate clothing. She does not think things through at all and does everything on a whim thinking that it'll make her seem more bold. She goes ice silo climbing because some visitors made the suggestion to her at the B&B she was staying at. She doesn't have any idea of what is in store and plays it off when Sam asks her if she knows what she is doing. When Sam wins a stay at a local Chalet, they go together and she brings almost nothing with her. She barely brings enough clothes.

Her whole character annoyed me. For someone who had graduated from college early, she was incredibly inept at doing anything else. Yes, these things were new to her but anyone doing something new would do a minimum amount of research to prepare for it, especially someone who had that level of education.

Sam was someone who seemed more real and relatable to me. He is a hard worker who does a lot to take care of his family. He is nice and helpful and a little emotionally repressed due to his childhood. He helps Maggie with her adventures with some criticism because he thinks that she shouldn't be doing things to try to impress a guy who broke up with her Christmas morning. He goes along with her until he realizes that he has feelings and doesn't want to lie to her brother anymore, who is also his best friend.

If this story had been told solely from Maggie's POV, I would have stopped and not finished. Her behavior was annoying and stupid. I feel like if there was a female friend along with her, they would have slapped her silly. The fact that it was split POV made it more palatable but it still took me forever to finish.

The narrators were great. Erin Mallon as Maggie I would say is perfect because of her valley girl way of speaking. Normally, her narrations annoy me a little but in this case it complemented Maggie's naïvety. Teddy Hamilton is a favorite and I always enjoy his narrations.

I Couldn't DO It!

This book was too much. I could not continue to listen to this girl who seemed like she had a head full of air. This is a testament of how far a man will go for booty and how he will sugar coat it to have her. This girl scares the hell out of her boyfriend with her projections of their future. He was a douche bag, really. Then out of the blue she goes to see her bro in Alaska but just decides to ice fish without even doing a lick of research from her smart phone.... no supplies, no nothing... in cold ass Alaska, frozen Alaska...then he is there for her in a big way but she literally throws herself at him on day one, but the ex is her future. Then on a whim she decides to silo hike again, no research, no google, no nothing and is surprised at the actual tools you need to use but he hops right in to look after her then lets her and others push him into competition and while he did win and win well it was ridiculous, Then she shows up to the chalet for the weekend with again... nothing, She is attracted to this man but she wants her ex back, but willing to sleep with this man whom she is attracted to, I could not go any farther. He calls her fierce and I say air head and childish but he was too horny to see anything else. No

Hook, Line, and Sinker!

Overall 4.5 stars

What a fun follow up to Wait with Me! Brother's best friend is such a great trope, and this slow burn romantic comedy was just what I needed. Sam and Maggie's meeting at Marv's bait shop was hilarious and hooked me right in. ;) This is book 2 in the interconnected series, but can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone (though characters from the previous book do appear).

I really loved Sam! He was gruff and standoffish, but underneath was a sweet, big teddy bear. He seriously makes me reconsider my feelings about gingers! LOL He did make some mistakes along the way and got a bit demanding towards the end (his now or never declaration in the alley really irked me), but overall I really liked him. His devotion to his family and business was really admirable, even if it held him back emotionally. Unfortunately, it took me longer to warm up to Maggie. I understand that she's fresh out of college and only 22, but she just came across way over the top and really naive. I recognize that her character needed to realize that she didn't need to be anyone but herself to be happy, but it took her a really long time and I was pretty much done by that point. Both her and Sam had specific plans for how they envisioned their lives and it caused them to really have tunnel vision. The build up between them was so good though and I loved that they opened themselves up and dropped the masks when they were together. I appreciated the message that it might not always be a fairy tale, but to be truly seen is worth so much more.

Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon were perfect again in this hilarious romcom. They always sound incredible and complement each other so well. They are one of my very favorite narrating duos! I am still dying from Hamilton saying, "the change" LOL Their male and female voices are amazing, though I did have some problem with Maggie's chapter at the end, differentiating between Sterling and Sam. Overall, a really enjoyable listen that will put a smile on your face!

5 Stars for Sparky and Sam

A great follow up to Wait With Me. Sam is Miles best friend and boss at Tire Depot who unknowingly stumbles on Miles sister Maggie aka Sparky at Marv's Bait and Tackle. He decides he will help her with her project of getting back her ex and then finds out who she is. They work hard to keep the fact that they've met from Miles and in the meantime continue their playful relationship and begin to fall for each other, Narration of course is awesome. I can't wait for the next installment of this series.

Fun, sweet, and hot.

This book was so much fun. It takes place in Boulder during the winter and it brought me right back to my own visit there. Had I read this book first I would have attempted ice fishing and silo climbing. Amy Daws described this adventurous romance in such a fun way that it make me want to try some of the things described. Great story and my first book of hers. Of course the narrators are top notch!!!

Fantastic listen!

Loved this! Perfect blend of romance and comedy made for a listen that I didn’t want to end. Great cast of characters and I loved hearing more about favorite characters from Wait With Me. Fantastic narrators who really captured the emotions and mood of the characters and story. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Amazing hook line and sink

I have always been fascinated with brother best friends books. This book definitely did not disappoint. Maggie was dumped on Christmas Day by her football player boyfriend. She was to ashamed to let her family know so she set out to win her ex boyfriend back in the process falls in love with another man named Sam.

Hook, Line, Sinker!

Next in Line by Amy Daws is incredible. I loved the witty humor, hint of taboo, and finding love when not looking for it. The imagery in this story is amazing. Having grown up in the MidWest, ice fishing was a big part of winter. I love how realistic and humorous this story is. The premise of trying to get her ex back through jealousy is fun, especially when it backfired and she (Maggie) found love in the process. Re-establishing priorities is something I took away from this book, along with a belly full of laughs. Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon both were spectacular in their performance of this book. I love their voices, and how they inflect realistic emotions. This book truly is an amazing listen. I loved Wait With Me featuring Miles, Maggie's brother, and think this one, Next In Line might even be better!

A great balance of rom and com!!

Next In Line is a super fun RomCom with a great balance of rom and com!!

Maggie is trying to remake herself to win back the guy who dumped her on Christmas morning. She had this big plan for her perfect life and didn’t want to lose her chance. She shows up in Marv’s Bait Shop aiming to learn how to ice fish and prove that she is not “basic”.
Sam is trying to keep a step back and not fall for this spark plug who just happens to be his best friend’s little sister. But it’s not long before he is caught up in Maggie’s lure...hook, line and sinker!

“I feel like I shouldn’t be teaching you how to snowboard. I should be teaching you how to know your worth.”

I thoroughly enjoyed Next In Line. It is a standalone RomCom but heavily features Miles and Kate from Wait With Me. And Wait With Me is SO Good I really suggest starting with that book it will only make reading Next In Line an even better experience.
I listened to Next In Line on audiobook as a reread and LOVED it even more with the amazing narration by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton!!

HOOKED! Line and Sinker!

Amy Daws' books are becoming one of my auto-buys when it audiobooks downloads! This is my third of hers, and they simply get better and better! Next in Line doesn’t disappoint!
24-year-old Maggie is on a journey of self-discovery & growth when she drives through Boulder, Colorado. Noticing people Ice Fishing, she decides to try her hand at it! (she’s more courageous than me, I tell you!!)
This leads to the sweetest and most unique 'meet cute’ EVER!
Enter Sam! (swoon! Whom, I am totally willing to freeze my nips off for btw)
When Sam hears a guy's vulgar exchange with Maggie, his chivalrous side bursts out!! (What I wouldn’t do for a bit of that!) Their journey begins, and oh my goodness, what a great ride it is!! Heartwarming, funny and full of loveable personalities.
Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon's narration is simply amazing! Their differentiation between female and male dialogue is pure perfection, easy on the ears, as with some narrators, it’s just PAINFUL to listen to.
These two make a magnificent team. Teddy’s deep and sexy tone had my toes curling, and Erin's delivery and resonance for the male dialogue makes you forget it’s a female delivering it!! I can’t recommend this enough.

Romantic comedy at its best

Who can make a story based around ice fishing one of my favourite reads of the year so far? Amy Daws, that’s who. I’m sure she could write a book about watching paint dry and still have me laughing out loud, because I swear, I had a smile on my face throughout this whole book. Sam and Maggie were hilarious together, they complemented each other perfectly both in and out of the bedroom. Forbidden romance, for want of a genre, or maybe brother’s best friend. You get the gist. Maggie wants to win back the heart of the mans she loves, Sam is willing to help her. After all he’s a commitment phobe, nothing serious is going to come out of this. Right? Yes. Famous last words. We also get to see lots of Miles and Kate from book 1 which adds further to the enjoyment (Miles is Maggie’s big brother). I don’t know what, if anything, is coming next in this series, but I’m living in hope for more. Romantic comedy at its best, narrated superbly by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton.

Love love this story!!

Omg. This story is just so amazing. I love Ms Daws stories but this is my first audiobook by her and I have to tell you she chose the narrateors perfectly. I read the book before I listened to it. I know I know. But that’s what I do. And omg. Their voices sounded almost identical in my head. Simply amazing.

The story line is a perfect rom-com. But it grips at your heart too and makes you feel all the feels. And the sparks? Whoooh *blushes* are everywhere.

I definitely recommend this book. And what is best? You can read/listen to it as a standalone! Winner!

Fun with beards and ice fishing!

This was a fun listen, totally engaging with a couple who weren’t perfect by any means but I felt invested quite quickly. There were many laugh out loud moments, with dialogue that lightened my day.

This is a tale of age difference, small town ruggedness, beards, ice-fishing and evolution. The heroine, Maggie was slightly annoying and superficial; she seemed young and a little spoilt. Sam, her brother’s best friend, was mature in age and life experience, he was also a stand-up guy but a bit of a commitment-phobe. They did make for fun listening and it was definitely a case of opposites argue or maybe attract.

Maggie never really won my heart but Sam certainly did. The chemistry between these two was sparking (there’s a pun in there if you read this). The storyline itself was adventure-driven, secretive and entertaining.

I liked the narration, Teddy Hamilton was all ease to listen to. Erin Mallon was sometimes as enjoyable and sometimes a little whiney. Overall, this dual narration worked.

I voluntarily listened to a copy of this audiobook from the author.

I cackled out loud, near the end

Unfortunately, I liked the Sam waaaay more than Maggie, who was so incredibly immature that I thought she was definitely not good enough (think supposedly intelligent, but completely delusional) for Sam. However, he is a small town boy, so may stay happily attached to his Maggie *pull face*.
I also preferred the male narrator (fantastic) to the female, who hurts my ears a little with her accent (rolling R’s), but was otherwise well-paced, modulated and an excellent narrator.
That all said, the story was great. Funny, sweet and I finished it with an audible “Awwwwww...❤️”.
I have read, and enjoyed, the previous novel and will look for sequels (Dr. Dick, I assume?)
