Ellen Marling lives in terror of her wedding night to the beastly Baron Basil Brockhaven. Story
How do you rebuild your life when your one true love is the one who ruins it? Joanna Sherwood, the Countess of Carew, has always been wildly in love with Adrian Delacourt, the darkly handsome and devastatingly charming Duke of Roxbury. When they wed, it was her dream come true - a dream that quickly turned to a nightmare as her husband accused her of infidelity and sullied her good name in Regency society. It was only a desperate flight to Italy with her husband's best friend at her side and his promise to rescue her through a new marriage that saved her sanity.

Wealthy and arrogant, Gabriel Penhallow knows it's time to fulfill his dynastic duty. All he must do is follow "The Penhallow way" - find a biddable bride, produce an heir and a spare, and then live separate lives. It's worked so well for generations, certainly one kiss with the delectable Livia Stuart isn't going to change things. Society dictates he marry her, and one chit is as good as another as long as she's from a decent family.

I am now an Anita Mills junkie :-)
I doubt I can read anything else until I am done with all her books on Audible. Anita Mills develops her characters so fully that by the end of the book you are left pining for more.
One of those books you wish had a part two and three so that you can just keep reading. Again, as in her style, there is only one quick love scene and the end comes too abruptly I feel when you are not quite ready to let the story go yet.
I absolutely loved and enjoyed this book and am so grateful I have found her. Great writing, well developed characters, clear expression of passion and love without heavy sex and very well developed and thought out storyline. Purchase with confidence.

It's amazing that two people who have been friends since childhood would believe the worst if one another without discussion. The plot is a bit weak in places but not too bad overall.
