There is a decent bit of useful information in this book and it's fairly well written, however, it does seem to have a strongly feminist approach to the subject. If that's your style, this book is for you. If however you happen to be a practicing male, this may not be the best read for you...

Well organized chapters and practical magical ideas with up-to-date material included. This book is a resource that is so dense I will be buying a paper copy to re-read, mark up, and write notes in the margins. Each chapter has a hands-on recommendation for those so inclined.

This book enchanted me to the point that I took screen shots of sections and made my friend listen to them in my car. YES, it’s THAT GOOD. Listening to this book will expand your knowledge of past (and present) magic and has an inspirational tone throughout. If you are on the fence about dabbling in magic, this book will likely push you to give it a try. I recommend this for anyone interested in folklore or “witchy history” and magical practitioners new and old or those living in areas rich with folklore. 10/10

BRAVO! Enchanting, inspiring, well-researched!

Hutcheson has compiled an impressive and thorough dive into many aspects of folk practice in North America, and it's a volume that I expect to prove its value time and time again in my own practice. The narration, though, while good in tempo and tenor, suffers from jarring (and occasionally wince-worthy) mispronunciations of words such as "LWA" (capitalized here to prevent confusion, and which the narrator pronounces throughout as "ee-wah"). All-in-all, however, an excellent resource!

Well-Researched and Respectful
