Story
One man obsessed with power. One woman prepared to sacrifice everything to stop him. One war that changed the world. "World War three lasted 12 days. Twelve days was all it took for mankind to devastate the planet and almost eradicate the human race. No victor emerged from the ashes and billions lost their lives. We survivors lived through the bleakest of winters. A primal existence became the new order, and the little that remained of our humanity hung in the balance..."

Story
Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him. Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere. But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

To Lily, Katherine Ross, a career woman in her early 40s, is a holdover from another era: clueless, old-fashioned, and perfectly happy to build her success on the backs of her unpaid interns. Publisher's Summary
Tatum had a brutal home life, but one thing to emerge from her living with a family of gun runners was that she learned to shoot with unerring accuracy.
When she finally escaped her family, she found friendship and camaraderie with a sisterhood of feminist activists until many of her friends were killed in a deadly terrorist attack.
It was then that Tatum decided that her only meaningful solution was to take revenge on their killers....
The series covers a wide spectrum of social forces all vying for supremacy, from corrupt populism, social media influencers, hackers, and gangs, through to old money and faith. All of this is viewed with a dark satirical eye and the series resolve all the plot lines and is neatly presented with a jet-black bow.
But for now, the New Reform Quartet begins with Tatum, who is watching and waiting, something she could do for England and beyond....
Begin the journey into this far-reaching dystopian world today.

UGH
Honestly, I'm not sure I can find anything positive to say about this. The narration was slow, uncaring and almost devoid of emotion. That actually matched well with the story which was wandering, tediously slow, and boring beyond belief. The only reason I didn't stop listening to it was that I'd promised a review and I kept hoping it would get better so I could find something positive to write. Sorry but IMO this one is a stinker.
I received a copy of this book at my request in exchange for a fair review.

Both twisted, and twisty - brilliant!!!
It’s rare that I’ll call a book “unputdownable” (I’m not even sure that’s the right term, for an audiobook - but you get my drift) - but this book grabbed me from the start and refused to let me go. It’s compulsive and brilliant - a wild, twisted journey through an alternative version of the world we live in today. I loved it - so glad it’s part of a series too!!! Can’t wait to see how it turns out...!
