Entrepreneur Sig Schmalhofer started as an immigrant with nothing more than a need for happiness and satisfaction. The journey itself turned into both.

Not without pitfalls, Schmalhofer's destiny was the American dream. Was it luck, tenacity or just common sense?

After the 90s housing crash, a broke Schmalhofer carries on as if he has a guardian angel rather than a mountain of debt.
