Story
The disregard of a dying woman's bequest, a girl's attempt to help an impoverished clerk, and the marriage of an idealist and a materialist intersect at an estate called Howards End. There, the lives of three families become entangled. As chance brings them together, societal conventions come into question as does the ownership of Howards End. Through the fate of the estate - as well as the lives of the families who are affiliated with it - Forster creates a brilliant parallel to the fate of English society itself.

Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

Story
A coming-of-age tale for the young and naïve 17-year-old Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey takes a decidedly comical look at themes of class, family, love and literature. Revelling in the sensationalist - and extremely popular - Gothic fiction of her day, the story follows Catherine out of Bath to the lofty manor of the Tilneys, where her overactive imagination gets to work constructing an absurd and melodramatic explanation for the death of Mrs Tilney, which threatens to jeopardise her newly forged friendships.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Story
In "Murder at the Mousetrap," the first Bunburry book, fudge-making and quaffing real ale in the local pub are matched by an undercurrent of passion, jealousy, hatred and murder - laced with a welcome dose of humour. Alfie McAlister has retreated from London to the peace and quiet of the country to recover from a personal tragedy. But an accidental death - which may have been no accident - reveals that the heart of England is far from the tranquil backwater he imagined.

As good as Nanny McPhee in person!
I downloaded this audio book just before a five-hour car ride with my two sons (ages 8 and 10) who normally fight non-stop. (They had already read the paperback version of the book so knew the story.) They sat still and listened for the ENTIRE car ride and then listened to it again on the way home. Thank you Nanny McPhee (and Emma Thompson)! P.S. I enjoyed it, too.

Listening to this feels like you're drinking cocoa
and sitting by a fire with Emma Thompson(who is in fact, your favorite aunt). She is telling you about her day making this movie, and alternating with the story itself. It's a marvelous interaction-a loving look at behind the scenes of movie making, and the wonderful wackiness of the story. Emma's humor about herself is charming and self deprecating (rather the opposite of a diva) and she is a great story teller in so many ways...

Loved it!-- but I'm so confused..
So...I thought this would be a sequel to The Big Bang, but it wasn't. My fault for not reading the synopsis. There is no difference between this version and The Big Bang. You get the narration and the bit with Emma Thompson answering questions from fans....I so wish this was a sequel.
Regardless, this will definitely be a story I come back to over and over again. It is just so good and funny.

Good Listen for all ages.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It is a great listen for all ages, Emma Thompson does a great job at narrating at a level that should apeal to all age groups as she both tells the story and explains the "daily life" on set at the filming. There was a smile on my face from beginning to end.

Good Story, Good Read, Poor layout
I enjoyed the story, it was nice having it read by Emma Thompson (the voice and actress of Nanny McPhee). I didn't like the layout of the reading, she jummped from the story to the filming of the movie, back and forth, that part I didn't care for at all.
