“Roald Dahl sometimes shared a tonal kinship with Ogden Nash, and he could demonstrate a verbal inventiveness nearly Seussian…[His] stories work better in audio than in print.” –The New York Times

Seven superb stories, from the world's no. 1 storyteller

Meet the boy who can talk to animals and the man who can see with his eyes closed. And find out about the treasure buried deep underground. A cleaver mix of fact and fiction, this collection also includes how master storyteller Roald Dahl became a writer. With Roald Dahl, you can never be sure where reality ends and fantasy begins.

The story starts very slow and it is not a good beginning! Once you get to chapter 4 the actual story starts!

A good book

It is a great book! I can always fall asleep to this book. Only one of the stories is a little intense. But I would like some more emotion in the narrator’s voice… Other than that flawless performance!

I love Andrew Scott as an actor so its surprising and disappointing to discover that he does not emote at all when he narrates. Its very bland and monotone and doesnt fit the stories he is reading. The stories are as good as I remember them being but I wish it had been a more expressive narrator reading them.

Pity about the narrator

Is my favorite Roald Dahl story of all time and Andrew Scott narrated the most important part with aplomb! I was laughing inwardly at his voices for all the dumb awful people who are trying to buy the turtle. Bravo!

The Boy Who Talked with Animals

The Swan story was graphic and portrayed the brutality of bullying without any justice in the end. I kept thinking, this is a renowned children's author, surely this will turn around soon. But it didn't. All 7 kids ranging in age from 8-15 disliked it.
