A headstrong woman and a protective man with an Alpha attitude are sharing passionate nights together . . . but is their relationship beyond physical?

Night time is the right time . . .

Gwendolyn Kidd has met the man of her dreams. He's hot, he's sexy, and what started as a no-names-exchanged night of passion has blossomed into a year and a half-long pleasure fest. Sure, it's a little strange that he only appears in her bed at night, but Gwen is so sure he's the one, she just can't turn him away . . .

Hawk Delgado knows more about Gwen than she could ever imagine. She's gorgeous, headstrong, and skittish about relationships. But Hawk is facing his own demons, demons that keep him from connecting with anyone. Yet when Gwen is drawn into Denver's lethal underground scene, Hawk's protective nature comes out full force. The problem is, when Gwen gets a dose of Hawk's Alpha attitude in the daylight, she's not so sure he's the one anymore.

It's difficult to tell for whom this book was written. The female banter in this book is decidedly high school/ college freshman style, but the characters are in their thirties!! Anyone old enough to experience the sexism of thirty+ years ago will cringe to meet Gwen, a dippy, spineless airhead who is led around by whichever alpha male is in the vicinity. Strong men are a integral part of this genre, but sheesh, this is caveman era social interaction with guns and state of the art surveillance equipment.

The story is not bad, it's a pretty complex concoction of drug rings, and DEA agents, private security groups etc. The male/female roles are just insulting. As I mentioned, Gwen is an airhead. She says goofy, sarcastic things at the most inappropriate moments and every unattached male character in the book is taken with her. What a message, just be vapid and malleable and the boys will love you. I read on hoping Gwen would grow some ovaries, but alas, no.

The narrator has a nice enough voice, but made some pronunciation errors that were distracting. Editing?

Can't recommend this one, but wouldn't count this writer out completely, because there was a story in there under all that 1960's testosterone.

Like eavesdropping on a high school lunch table.

Where does Mystery Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's one of my favorites.Perfect story. It didn't end to soon or last to long. I stayed awake until 3:00am listening to it. Hawk was the perfect alpha male and although Gwen acted a bit slutty, immature and stupid sometimes I couldn't help but love her. I also liked the secondary characters.

What other book might you compare Mystery Man to and why?

Not sure.

What about Kate Russell’s performance did you like?

The narrator made it very entertaining. Her voices of the different characters was perfect. Not sure that I would have enjoyed it as much reading the book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Listen to your man.

Any additional comments?

Perfect book. I would love to see it on the big screen.

I absolutely loved this story

I'm a Kristen Ashley virgin and I am so glad that I got on the bandwagon.

At first I started the book and was like "where's the sex", I was getting a lot of build up and a lot of story and I was like "where's the sex"? But then I was getting really into Hawk and all his damaged, dominant sexiness and I was like "where's the sex" and then just as I was about to explode I got all I needed in this relationship and this book. Ohhhhh Hawk... Mr "4 orgasms in less than 30 mins" Delgado. You were well worth the wait.

I really enjoyed the story and the build up. Unlike others, I loved that the story was far fetched and completely out there. It's a story it's supposed to take you out of yourself and make you swoon because frankly if it doesn't do that why the heck am I reading it!

Thanks you Ms Ashley for allowing me to become addicted to your alpha males because they just "do it for me". Don't get me wrong I am not a girl who will allow a man to tell me what to do all the time but a man who loves you so much and can't live without you, wants to protect you, is able to protect you and is built to protect you... I will be like "Okay" to just about anything he told me. Especially if he gonna come back to drop all that good stuff on me!

Loved the story, loved the man and loved the cargos... who knew! LOL.

Where does Mystery Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is good. Four out of five stars.

What about Kate Russell’s performance did you like?

I felt like she got the emotions right. So many narrators just read instead of act. All the "oh boys" could have been annoying but they were cute instead.

Any additional comments?

As far as alpha male books go KA writes a good one. I could never deal with an alpha IRL but in fiction I eat it up!

KA fan

I struggled with this book. The story was okay, I felt like something big was going to happen with all the issues Gwen kept having. But, it fizzled out toward the end. Slightly disappointing. But, the worst part about it was the narrator. She whispered the entire book and I cringed everytime she would say baby in a whisper.

couldn't get past the narrator
