Acerca de esta escucha

Welcome to the Custer Hill Club, a men's club, set in a luxurious hunting lodge, whose members include America's powerful business leaders, military men, and government officials. The club is a place to relax with old friends, but one fall weekend, the club's Executive Board gathers to talk about 9/11 and finalize a retaliation plan, known by a code name: Wild Fire.

That weekend, a member of the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force is found dead. It's up to Detective John Corey and his wife, FBI Agent Kate Mayfield, to unravel a terrifying plot that starts with the Custer Hill Club and ends with American cities locked in the crosshairs of a nuclear device. Corey and Mayfield are the only ones who can prevent global chaos from being unleashed.

The story is riveting, the humor is great and the reader (Scott Brick) makes the book come alive. Highly recommended.

Outstanding!

I found the New York wit to be extremely funny in places. So much so, that twice I had laughed out loud. The story has one or 2 slow spots, but overall is fast paced. I highly recommend this.

Acttion and Fun

Scott Brick is my favorite narrator by far. I liked this book as part of the John Corey series, and he is true to form here as well. I love his "outside-the-lines" kind of approach to things. The plot to this book was interesting, however, it seemed to go on too long.

Love the Hero

Would you consider the audio edition of Wild Fire to be better than the print version?

I love listening to audio books. I sew and I listen while I work.

What did you like best about this story?

The John Corey character is funny, to the point and a good detective!

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Scott Brick IS John Corey! If another narrator were to read a John Corey book it would take so much from the character of John Corey. He is so good. He makes you get right into the book with the character!

Amazing book!

The real star of this book is Scott Brick. With just the right hint of New Yohk slang when it counts, the narrator literally brings John Corey to life. I read it two times -- one time in traditional book format and a second time in audiobook -- and both times got me laughing out loud at some point or another. In fact, this unvoluntarily woke my girlfriend, who was sleeping next to me, thanks to Corey's idiotic comments on bears or woodcock. On the other hand, when he reflects on what happened to him the day the planes hit the towers, it got me teared up a few times.

The story itself is scary enough, like other people said. However, incredible leaps in detective work detract from the richness of the characters, the plot and the beauty of the Adirondacks. Kate Mayfield figures out an important part of the puzzle at one point while switching stations on the radio, and I almost lost it there. It's a good thing I could hang on because Wild Fire is one of the most entertaining DeMille novels I've ever had the chance to read. In fact, it is right up there with Plum Island.

Overall, I'm sure every John Corey fan has already read this one. If they haven't then Wild Fire is a must. And the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars to this one, is that the Mr. and Mrs. Corey solved the puzzle in too short of a time to be credible. Then again, I need to remind myself that Wild Fire is only a novel... right?

Very entertaining in a James Bond way, and more...

your gallows humor is wonderful and your writing style second to none. More John Corey please.

Kind of bias as I've read all the Nelson Demille books, but this is another great book with Det. John Corey. Kept me up late at night all week as there are no good places to breat from the reading. A must read for Nelson Demille fans as well as anyone wanting a great story filled with intrigue.

**Amazing**

... but for the music between chapters. It seemed to be at strategic plot twists that the music was inserted. Well, I know when the plot is twisting. I don't need a herald. My apologies to people who like the music!

I would have given a five-star overall rating....

The books before this one were awesome and John was funny. In this one he was more annoying than funny in my opinion. While some of it was unbelievable, I still enjoyed the book.

Scott Brick is amazing but I liked his voice for John better in the previous books.

Not the same John Corey I fell in love with

This was a totally enjoyable listen. I often found myself sitting in the parking lot at work listening, unable to team myself away to go into the office.

The characters were developed very well, and the plot held me until the end.

Great Listen-highly recommend!
