From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nelson DeMille comes a suspenseful new novel featuring Detective John Corey and an all-too-plausible conspiracy to detonate a nuclear bomb in two major American cities.

Welcome to the Custer Hill Club--an informal men's club set in a luxurious Adirondack hunting lodge whose members include some of America's most powerful business leaders, military men, and government officials. Ostensibly, the club is a place to gather with old friends, hunt, eat, drink, and talk off-the-record about war, life, death, sex and politics. But one Fall weekend, the Executive Board of the Custer Hill Club gathers to talk about the tragedy of 9/11 and what America must do to retaliate. Their plan is finalized and set into motion.

That same weekend, a member of the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force is reported missing. His body is soon discovered in the woods near the Custer Hill Club's game reserve. The death appears to be a hunting accident, and that's how the local police first report it, but Detective John Corey has his doubts. As he digs deeper, he begins to unravel a plot involving the Custer Hill Club, a top-secret plan known only by its code name: Wild Fire. Racing against the clock, Detective Corey and his wife, FBI agent Kate Mayfield, find they are the only people in a position to stop the button from being pushed and chaos from being unleashed.©2006 Nelson DeMille. This was a book I just couldn't put down, not too surprising considering the author was Nelson DeMille and the narrator was Scott Brick, a great combination! The plot centers on an isolated men's only club called the "Custer Hill Club". A retired FBI detective and his wife try to figure out what happened to another agent who had been doing surveillaince on the Custer Hill Club. They uncover the existence of a couple of "suitcase nukes" and eventually piece together an awful plot which they work very hard to stop. Do they or don't they? You'll have to listen to the book to its conclusion to find out. A great on-the-edge-of-your-seat listen that may keep you awake at night past your normal bedtime.

Nelson DeMille, Scott Brick and John Corey at their best! Hey, if you're a fan, you're a fan. If not, as Corey would say "F--- You!". Great book! After "The Lion's Game" I'm a DeMille/Corey addict, and Scott Brick brings it all to life so well. Scott Brick reading Nelson DeMille is the best!

Terrific!

I find the idea of "Wild Fire" insane as terrorist who thought of using plane as a bomb. The development of the story left me something missing but can't quite pin point what..however, I have enjoyed the book and learned a few things too. This is one of a few books that I actually listened besides commuting time.

I have listened to all of Demille's books, and listen to many more narrations by Scott Brick just because I like his narration. I also enjoy the Cory character. However this book went on a little long without enough substance. I love the sarcastic wit but it became a little weak. Kate was a very weak caracter. I am using a very high standard to judge this book because I have come to expect the best from DeMille. With that said this was an enjoyable book. I am glad I listened, and I was looking forward to another John Cory story. This story just took a little luster off the John Cory legacy.

Good--Not his best

I really like the Nelson DeMille/Scott Brick combination. I like this book though Up Country is still my favourite

This one didn't dissappoint, except that John Corey is getting too full of himself to be believable. He takes the "man's man" theme to the extreme.

Fun Book, Great Escape
