Publisher's Summary

If space doesn't kill David Dixon, Earth will.

Astronaut David Dixon's first mission to space goes horribly awry when a gunfight breaks out on a Russian space station. He finds himself making an emergency landing from orbit and becomes the most wanted man on Earth. Desperate to unravel the plot he's found himself in, he takes his pursuers on a wild chase from space to the backstreets of Rio and beyond. Dixon's survival relies on his skills as a pilot and willingness to do whatever it takes, from crashing a passenger jet into the Mexican desert to pulling off an incredible heist in Low Earth Orbit.

A SciFi Thriller that won't let go

My mistake was starting this at night. It took a real effort of will to pause when I did because I had to sleep. Once you start this roller coaster, you won't want to get off. Great setup for a series. I hope Andrew writes the sequel!

This is the best original scifi I've read in years. The science is very believable and doesn't bog down the story. Dan Dixon is an everyman you route for from the beginning. This is a self contained story that really enjoyed. The ending was thin but everything was wrapped up, and I actually didn't guess the ending before it happened. Thanks for surprising me Andrew!

If you want a great hard SF thriller that you can't put down and demands a sequel, I recommend this book.

Amazing once again

All of Andrew Mayne's books are great and this one did not disappoint! It's the Martian but in space and instead of the world wanting to bring Mark home they want him executed as a terrorist. The action and "I can't wait to hear what happens next" were Non-Stop. <>

Totally awesome

I've read all but one of Maynes books offered on Audbile and this was easily the best. And that's saying something because I thoroughly enjoyed the others. Enjoyed those. LOVED this one. And let's give credit where it's due-the narrator. He was excellent! Anybody that can deliver a character's sarcastic and acerbic remarks and them their own is the mark of a fine reader.
Ok Maynes, we need more books, stat. And keep the great heroes and heroines coming.

Non-stop and action-packed

This book was full of action from beginning to end and kept me idling in my car unable to turn it off.
I felt like I was listening to a weird things fan-fiction (which is a good thing) because of the scenarios the lead character kept getting himself into and the way he uses science to get himself out of.
Everything in this book was meticulously thought out to always respect realism instead of taking a narrative or literary short-cut to get us a similar result.

captivating, but not enough to read the sequel.

I enjoyed parts of the story, but it seemed way too long in some areas. The Laney Washburn character was my favorite, as well as Preston and Markov. The audible reader was tedious during the first chapter but got better as the story went along. It kept my attention, but I cringed alot.

Good story, but frustrating

I really enjoyed the book and the narration, but I feel a bit ripped off. Even in a series, books should stand on their own. This one "ended - I use that term only because this book ran out of words - with the uber frustrating technique of old Saturday morning cliffhangers. The protagonist was literally going off the cliff." Hope you enjoyed book one.".

WHAT?!?

Book two should be titled "Chapter Two."

Self-aware, science-based sci-fi

Fast pace, great character, science-based sci-fi, witty self aware dialogue. I'm not sure if the main character is the luckiest unlucky guy alive or the unluckiest lucky guy alive, but he sure is fun to follow through this adventure. My only complaint is it ended...oh wait there is a second book.

Whats a McGuffin?

The story plot is interesting and unique. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fast paced and engrossing. My two favorite types of fiction in one. What made it even better was that it was also laugh out loud funny. For example this line..."I don't care if the DarkStar (ship) doesn't return my text tomorrow...." I have to say, the narrator was really great at sound effects. I don't know if I 've ever heard so many loud and dramatic bams!! and bangs!! in one book. He's pretty good. I know someone compared this story to The Martian but I don't know if I'd go that far. This character tended to be a little more whiney. However the story overall was engrossing plus I even learned a lot about space travel in the near future.
