Publisher's Summary

Set in Minnesota, Gone to Dust is the debut private-eye murder mystery from Emmy Award-winning Seinfeld writer Matt Goldman.

A brutal crime. The ultimate cover-up. How do you solve a murder with no useable evidence?

Private detective Nils Shapiro is focused on forgetting his ex-wife and keeping warm during another Minneapolis winter when a former colleague, neighboring Edina Police Detective Anders Ellegaard, calls with the impossible.

Suburban divorcée Maggie Somerville was found murdered in her bedroom, her body covered with the dust from hundreds of emptied vacuum cleaner bags, all potential DNA evidence obscured by the calculating killer.

Digging into Maggie's cell-phone records, Nils finds that the most frequently called number belongs to a mysterious young woman whose true identity could shatter the Somerville family - but could she be guilty of murder?

After the FBI demands that Nils drop the case, Nils and Ellegaard are forced to take their investigation underground, where the case grows as murky as the contents of the vacuum cleaner bags. Is this a strange case of domestic violence or something with far-reaching, sinister implications?

This book was entertaining with great narration

I'm not sure if is truly a 5 star book - But I rounded up...

A big review isn't really necessary.. It was a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be, and the narration was very good, so I was happy that I chose to give it a shot. It was worth it for sure.

Dirty Murderous Tale!

Matt Goldman has written a great murder mystery. Famous for his writing on the TV show Seinfeld, Goldman's talent for mysteries shines. The theme of the book is mostly serious with some witty humor mixed-in. The characters are well developed and likable without being to perfect. The plot offers some unique ideas. I would definitely listen to more of these characters if Goldman turns this into a The narration is fantastic

The narration is fantastic and the recording is professional. Andrews is able to capture the characters with his wide range of voices, tone, pitch, inflection.

I'm glad I gave this read a listen, it's well worth a credit!!

Great discovery

I wish I could recall how this book made my to-read list, but I'm happy it did. It had a good balance of dry humor, diverse and interesting characters, and a few red herrings thrown in the mix. It's your typical PI story but it has a freshness to the approach that I appreciated. I would recommend it to anyone who either wants to explore this genre or those who have been looking for a new quirky PI to follow. Hoping this is a start to a new series.

Above Average

It was a refreshing change of pace to have the lead character not bogged downed with personality disorders that have become the norm. I am weary of the tired formula of fighting with bosses, unpleasant co workers, etc. Our private eye is a normal fellow, with normal issues. The mystery was well done, although I guessed the ending. Looking forward to another if this becomes a series.
