Publisher's Summary

Participation is not an option....

The Lambert Family is heading to Crescent Lake, a rural cabin community in western Pennsylvania, for an idyllic weekend getaway. Some fishing, some barbecue, some games...

The Fannelli brothers are heading to Crescent Lake too. Some stalking, some kidnapping, some murder, definitely some games - though not necessarily the type of games the Lamberts had in mind.

But it doesn't matter. The Lamberts are going to play whether they like it or not.

An intense psychological thriller, Bad Games has the dark, mind-bending terror of Cape Fear combined with the fish-out-of-water dread and suspense of Deliverance.

So let Jeff Menapace's best-selling thriller keep you up all night as it delves into the mystery of nature versus nurture when comprehending the evil in man, along with the will and determination an innocent family must summon to fight back against horrific odds.

Bonus! Includes the first chapter of the pulse-pounding sequel, Vengeful Games.

    "Crazy!!"

The Lambert Family are heading for a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend in a cabin at Crescent Lake. Unbeknownst to them, along the way, they have attracted the attention of the Fannelli brothers. The brothers have included the family in one of their sick and twisted games. The family are being harassed and terrorized until the brothers decide the game has run it's course. The outcome of the games is usually death!!

This was such an awesome book! I listened to the audio in a day and immediately downloaded book 2 to my Kindle. This was pretty much a non stop psychological thrill the whole way through. What the family went through was horrible but I loved how the couple came together and did whatever they needed to do to help each other.

The brothers were absolute psychos! They think they are special because experts say that it's genetics that play a big role in how someone turns out, but the brothers were raised in a loving home. They think they are the exception to the rule and will be famous and studied when they are eventually caught. Not that they want to be caught, they enjoy the torture too much and love what they do! But from an early age, the brothers loved inflicting harm on others and notched their first kill at an early age. They were the worst of the worst.

In all, a terrifying and thrilling read. It will make you think twice about renting a cabin in a secluded area for a while!! It's well written and developed and a must read. After the ending, I can't wait to dive into the next book and see what happens!!

This isn't the first book narrated by Gary Tiedemann that I've listened to. He really brought the story to life in this one!! His inflections and tones were perfect for the book and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

This book was so incredibly good I actually am having a hard time putting into words how difficult it was for me to stop reading it. "Bad Games" is a horror/thriller about an unsuspecting family that finds themselves in a boatload of trouble when they should just be enjoying a relaxing vacation. From the very top, Jeff Menapace had me feeling uneasy and bewitched by this tale. The suspense mounts in such a way that the tension is palpable, the effect is dramatic and you simply can't stop listening.

There was something hauntingly realistic about this tale. There are no ghosts, no demons, nothing paranormal. Just a cute family of four and two sadistic, twisted brothers up to no good. People vs. people and the local cops are no help. The premise (and the details) are so believable that I'll be paranoid about vacationing on a lake for the rest of my life. Gary Tiedemann does an astounding job with the narration in this book; his work on this really brought the story to another level. I would definitely seek out books written by Menapace and narrated by Tiedermann again!! 10/10

    "Wow! This Was SO Good!"

Nail biting suspense, humor, twists and turns. Well written and narrated story. Don’t want to say anything else, no spoilers. I’ll remember this one for a long time. Well worth your time, money or credit. There is some violence but surprisingly not as much as you might expect. The ending will raise the hairs on the back of your neck.

"Action, humor, and horror mixed in..."
What did you love best about Bad Games?

I loved the humor of this book. How the author kept humor and quirkiness going throughout the entire story is an art. There are so many bad things happening yet they feel almost normal, because of the author's gift of weaving humor into horror.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bad Games?

I thought it was super gross and memorable when the dog ate the finger out of the bait can of worms. If this had happened with my dog I would have lost all of my composure.

Which character – as performed by Gary Tiedemann – was your favorite?

I really liked the dad in the story he was the leading character and had my attention the whole time.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to finish this book to find out the outcome of the family involved however, I was not able to finish it all in one setting.

    Any additional comments?

If you want to hear a book that takes horror and adds some humor and expert story details I think this is the book that can do that.

Creepy and disturbing family vacation gone horribly wrong. Great narration only adds to the characters and their stories. The best part about this book is the humor the author used to offset the possibility disturbing aspects of the story. Great human versus human survival story. A truly unique storyline and epic struggle to a satisfying conclusion. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

What a scary book. The narration was perfect for this setting. The scariest thing is that it could happen and there are people out there like these two villains. I received this audiobook for free and voluntarily reviewed

"Wow. The only word that comes to mind."

At the start, I was concerned I was really going to dislike this story. But as it went deeper and deeper, I became fascinated with the story, both sides as it were. Ripe with horror, violence, sex and romance, this was definitely a story for those who love extreme plot changes. I am excited for the second book in the series.

    Story
    "Suspense, depravity, resolution, and a hook . . ."

All rolled into one. This book is a psycho-thriller that plays to the worst nightmare a couple could imagine facing. The story is a combination of the brutality and evil that lurks in the shadows of our lives; the sort of thing that only happens to other people and only once in a very great while, but when it does happen, holy crap!!! This really is one of those books that the scenes can turn your stomach, make you want to stop reading/listening to the story, but for another twisted reason . . . you just can't put it down. Sort of like coming up on a terrible accident on the highway, telling yourself not to look, but you just can't help yourself. It plays top the macabre streak hidden in all of us and takes us to the places we don't really want to go . . . yet we are drawn in like a moth to a flame. This story reminded me of a Stephen King type of novel. Take an innocent family, vacationing in a pristine environment, and throw in a pair (not one, but two) bogeymen. There is a line thrown in there between the two brothers to the effect of "the kids will make this game even more enjoyable." as man, husband, and father this book brought forth ones worst sets of nightmares; the same could be said for the women, wives, and mothers that happen to pick up this book. Just when you think it can't get worse . . .

The narration, by Gary Tiedemann, is excellent and adds so much to the characters (especially the deranged , or more deranged, brother) that they really come alive. In fact, I'm not so sure that I would have continued to read this book, but the listening of it made it so much more dramatic and suspenseful. Tiedemann also narrates the sequel which my be reason enough for me to purchase Vengeful Games. Oh yeah, did I mention there was a "hook" in the story . . . one that has me ready to get into part II; something that I rarely do.

Word of warning; this story does contains some brutally violent scenes and suggestions as well as some graphic sex scenes (a few of the sex scenes combine the two factors.) However, I would say that they add to the suspense and the overall horror of the story. Though graphic and troubling, in and of themselves, they do add to the work and are not just thrown in there gratuitously. That being said, this book is not for all audiences, but I would recommend this listen to those that can put the most troubling scenes into the compartments of the mind in which they belong. For this genre, this story is one of the best I've come across.

I was given a complimentary copy of this audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher in return for my unbiased review of the work. My hope is that this review will be found to helpful for others in making their buying and listening choices.
