Publisher's Summary

After marrying her college sweetheart, Ginger Williams gave up her own professional dreams to help her husband follow his dream of building a megachurch. It's not long before Ginger and her husband, Jeremy, turn a small DC church into a burgeoning empire...catapulting the couple into a popular powerhouse. But with a bigger spotlight comes more temptation, and the power is corrupting Jeremy in ways Ginger never imagined.

When she seeks the advice of her peers on the First Ladies' Council, she's shocked when they tell her to accept Jeremy's infidelities so she doesn't damage the church and affect the many business opportunities coming their way. With every part of her life - family, faith, and finances - hanging in the balance, Ginger must decide if she will continue to live in the shadow of the sins of her husband, or face life on the other side of the pulpit.

Storyline was compelling. Voices not so much.

The storyline was so good. I couldn’t put it down. Finished the book in 2 days!! I only wish the male characters were done by a male, not by a female trying to sound like a man. They all sounded like the same 90 year old man.

Pleasantly surprised

So I love Giselle on the show and purchased the book to support but did not have high expectations. I must it was a good read. The storyline kept me engrossed. I developed an attachment to the characters and genuinely felt their emotions. I was hoping it would not be a bunch of foolishness and it was not. Great job! Can’t wait for the next book.

Wow!

This book was a PAGE TURNER! I almost didn’t get it because of some of the reviews, but I’m glad I did. From beginning to end, the author and the narrator did an excellent job of keeping me engaged in the story and making me feel the emotion of the characters, especially Ginger. I literally couldn’t put it down, especially as I got down to the last 2 hours. Very well done!

Review 3.5 *SPOILER ALERT*

I agree with other reviewers that the book was slow at the beginning. Overall a pretty good story, which in my opinion could have been much stronger (when showing the power of forgiveness) if the husband (Jeremy) would have asked for his wife’s forgiveness as well. It’s said he constantly kept asking Ginger for another chance, BUT he never says “I’m sorry” or explains how he got caught up with 2 side chicks. Also, just didn’t buy into the $8 million Amazon deal....it was a stretch.

Enjoyable

Story was better than average, but unfortunately, was slow and boring in a few spots. I had hoped for more interesting, less predictable lines and dialogue since this pastor narrative is not uncommon.

The narrator's performance left much to be desired. Mainly, her character voices were inconsistent and just not good. In addition, her tempo, pronunciation, and enunciation fell short enough times to be noticed. Often words were cut off or mispronounced. For example, sadly and incredibly, the name of one main character-Jeremy- was often pronounced Germy.

Intriguing and interesting Book!

I loved this book! Once I started listening, I didn’t want to stop. It is substantive and extremely well done! The narrator sometimes spoke to softly and it was difficult for me to hear. However, this didn’t interfere with how much I enjoyed the book.

The Truth Will Always Come Out

As a person who's been born and raised in the Catholic Church, and still a Catholic, I found this very interesting how other churches deal with there own scandals. This book gives a great perspective about inter workings of a mega church. The great works that they due. The fame of being a founder of a mega church, and the high cost that goes with it. Lastly some of the bad things that happen in mega churches. This book is easy to listen to, and time goes fast listening to this book.

What a surprise

I am TOTTALY in to the church dramas. I didn’t think this would be good but decided to give it a try and I was surprised. The story was good and it did not contain some of the unrealistic stuff I have found in other stories. My biggest complaint is the narrator whispered through most of this book. Please speak up ma’am. Good story! Good job Gizelle

Pleasantly surprised

I'd heard Giselle talk about this book on the RHOP but I didn't take her seriously as a writer. I was surprised at how much better it was than I expected. But the real Oscar goes go Lynette Freeman the narrator!
