Publisher's summary

'Out of the blue, my perfect life imploded. Let's look at my situation, sans rose tinted specs. I have: no husband, no self-esteem, no money, a six-year-old son, a boisterous puppy, a crush on my son's teacher...and an online dating profile, apparently! I am the subject of village gossip, pursued by the mafia (playground variety), turning 40 in a matter of weeks. And...my life has just gone viral!'

A deliciously romantic and humorous book about love, loss and starting again. For fans of Sophie Kinsella, Cecelia Ahern and Marian Keyes.

Hilarious British Romantic Comedy (Not YA!)

Story: 4.5 stars

For starters, this book had me laughing out loud! There was physical comedy, situational comedy, verbal comedy, miscommunication, misdirection, etc.! It was interspersed with heartbreak and the sincere feelings of a very likable protagonist. The love interest is PERFECT; maybe too perfect? But this is romantic comedy, so the love interest is seen through rose-colored lenses.

The HEA is a bit over the top, but I love, love, love that all the stories are finished! No loose threads where we wonder what ever happens to this character or that; the author ties everything up neatly and happily.

Loss of half a star because, as another reviewer pointed out, there is some repetition and it is noticeable. However, I was able to overlook it as I laughed out loud at the very British humor, verbiage and situations.

I will say that, although there is no sex on page and is technically clean, there is adult conversation about sex, references to '50 shades of Gray' in the broadest of terms (our heroine has not read it but, like every other female on the planet, knows basically what it's about), lots of drowning of sorrows in wine and the "F" word a couple of times. It's a book I have already recommended to my adult girlfriends, but I would never recommend it to the YA crowd.

Narration: 5 stars

Jan Cramer is obviously British, which lends authenticity to the narration. She has a number 'voices' and accents in her arsenal and does a pretty good "kid" voice (admittedly one of the most difficult 'voices' to do)! I enjoyed her acting and would absolutely listen to her again!

Fun, lighthearted story

I really enjoyed this title. It even motivated me to finish cleaning the house and run the dogs. Life is tough and people can be cruel. This book made me laugh and smile.

Predictable

This authors seems like she may have talent, but this story just seemed so lazy and predictable. Lots of the scenes and dialogue are repetitive. The story begins with Sophie’s husband leaving her. But, we really have no reason why - Lysander says she was a bitch and her dialogue with him pretty much supporters this view - which makes the reader question why the perfect Daniel would be interested in being her friend at all. She whines and cries through the whole book, again, causing one to wonder why Daniel and Sam want to spend any time with her. There are some minor surprises at the end. The narrator is entertaining but does not evoke sympathy or like ability in Sophie. I really wanted to like this book, but found myself rolling my eyes.
