Publisher's summary

Can she ever recover from the abuse suffered?

Tookie, now 15 years old, shares her nightmarish memories as a survivor of unspeakable and depraved atrocities committed by the very system in charge of her protection in this dark-fiction, tell-all novella.

Lost in a corrupt "system", Tookie suffered mind-blowing abuse that would cripple any child. Although it's devastating to hear about these horrific crimes, Tookie's inspiring hard-won recovery, and the devotion of her loving grandmother, are breathtaking in this "based-in-part-on-a-true-story" novella.

This gender-studies story is difficult to listen to and has many emotional triggers, but it is a topic that the world needs to acknowledge and do something about.

Author's warning: Intense emotional triggers of child abuse. Illicit drug use. Language. Scroll up and get your copy now!

WHOA!

Tookie's truth was told in a compact 2 hrs. & 11 min.. This child' s life was screwed before she was even born. She had neither a mother or father that was worth a damn. Her mother was a self absorbed, selfish teenager idiot', her father was an abusive, entitled rapist & sex trafficker. & her paternal grand parents paid to hide her from the family tree, can you guess why? The system that says they are there to protect children FAILED HORRINLY! The only light in this child's life was her maternal grandmother aka Tookie's Savior& it took several years for her to get back to her, By then much damage was done, but, grandma went above & beyond to help her Even though most of this book is dark it is well worth the listen I spent much of the time grinding my teeth to keep from screaming out in fury. The narration was great.

Heartrending Novella

This story was emotional and tragic, but it was inspiring also. The governmental system that is set up to protect children failed to protect Tookie. There were situations and scenes presented in this novella that were hard to hear, but Tookie's journey and her grandmother's support are inspiring in this difficult retelling of the life of an abused child. Ann Sprinkle's narration was great as there were times when her voice became dispassionate while telling the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Hard Hitting Truth

My Name is Tookie is a hard hitting thought provoking book that will make you cry for the torture put upon a child by most of the adults around her. Tookie was born to a teenage neglectful mother who only thought about herself and everyone else be damned including her own child. The book is well written but be aware there are parts that are hard to read/listen to because they are gut wrenching. Ann Sprinkle did an amazing job on this book. I reccomend this book but be aware that it delves into a very sensitive subject of drug use and abuse. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.
