Publisher's Summary

My Life So Far is a powerful account of an extraordinary woman. Oscar winner, controversial political activist, groundbreaking fitness guru, wife, mother, lover, philanthropist; just some of the roles Jane Fonda is known for. In this candid book, written by Fonda herself, there are messages for women of all ages as she holds a mirror up to her own life but lets us see ours reflected there.

Now in her 60s, Jane Fonda looks back over a life in which she won Oscars for her roles in Klute and Coming Home and produced blockbuster hits Nine to Five and On Golden Pond. And with unflinching honesty she addresses the tragedy of her mother's suicide; her turbulent relationship with her father, Henry Fonda, her lovers and husbands, her passions and political views.

An amazing lady and story

I loved this book, not only did it change the way I think about her but a number of topics she touches on in the book , she read it well and you just hear the talent in her voice. I think that the way she tells the story is heartfelt and honest and she really did this for her benefit as much as for ours to hear it. An amazing story from an amazing legend of screen and life!

Beautiful self reflective piece!

Either you like Jane Fonda or not, this book is such an incredible listen. Added to the beautiful self reflection which will make you embark on your own self reflective journey, is the fact that it's read by the author herself, which makes it even more palpable. I didn't want it to end...

Jane Fonda .. a True Living Legend ..

I had been holding back on buying this audiobook, as I thought in the sample reading ..
It sounded too political ..
I had expected it to be a heavy listen ..
Though a massive fan of Lady Fonda, for many years ..
I was persuaded to buy this, having watched a biopic about her on YouTube ..
I'm very happy I did ..
I have read and listened to scores of autobiographies over the year's ..
This being now in my top 5 ..
Wowwewa, a delicious listen ..

How wonderfully open and honest - thank you Jant

n open, honest and uplifting account of the life of a brave and string woman, despite her upbringing and childhood/ adolescent experiences. So glad I read this book. Jane feels as though she is my sister, mother, best fiend all in one. And has given renewed courage to celebrate being myself and not let early life experiences define me.

A fine balance between the not-said and the Life

Ali Smith says we readers/listeners are most impacted by the undertow which we glean as we interact with an author.
I could feel this powerful undertow as I reacted to events I knew about, or didn't, in this iconic figure Jane who vividly showed up in our lives in a time when Stars not celebrities roamed the earth.
Her lifetime runs almost parallel to my own and although hers has not been an erudite life, she has been exposed to some of the century' s greatest thinkers, creatives and world events.
Her movies were often pivotal in my own understanding of what was possible. Perhaps she is partially responsible for the muddied gender roles we were offered at the time.
Gratefully, I was privileged with a more academic grounding so I was able to make some different choices..earlier.
Nonetheless, her journey is acutely familiar and endearingly expressed.
Younger men and women could learn a great deal from this book, even if it has real flaws.
Hence the Undertow I refer to.
Methinks Ms Fonda may not yet have learnt enough humility to really face up. Not by the end of the book-and she says as much. Full credit to her.
Maybe her age 60-80 years will help her get there. I have a feeling she might.

A Life of Learning

I'd recommend this book to women in life transition, particularly those of us who, like me, have come through a storm & taken the time (4yr in my case) to heel, nurture & ground herself. I bought Jane's 'My Life So Far' & 'Prime Time' after viewing her impressive TEDX talk about 'The Third Act'. If, like me, you enjoy biographies &, in the case of this book, value the life perspective of an older, wise (yet vulnerable & uncertain in herself) & ever attentive woman, then I suggest that you will enjoy & reflect meaningfully with this book.
