Sixty-eight seconds.

Can a life be lived in sixty-eight seconds? Can the love of a lifetime be discovered and lost in just a minute?

Mikah found herself living another life, a fairy tale of love and passion such as she never imagined. Then came the nightmare that tore it all away as quickly as fate had handed it to her.

My heart is in the Highlands too!

The author of this book delivered a clever time-travel romance adventure with a few twists. This unique book actually weaves 4 lives into one romance….strange but true. There was just enough romance, intrigue, and mystery to keep me captivated.

Not sure if this book is in a series but if it isn't that's disappointing. If you like thought provoking time-travel romances with great narration don't hesitate on this one. ;-).

LOVED the last quarter of this book...

Narration: Kirsten Potter is one of my favorite historical romance narrators. I love how she does the accents, her male voices are on point and she makes stories more interesting.

Story: I really like Angeline Fortin and the last 25% of this story shows the passion, excitement and action I look forward to when I read/listen to her books. This story felt a bit long and about half way in it was getting boring. But I am soooo glad I finished it because that last quarter of the book Makes everything make sense and so exciting. This is a past life/reincarnation/Dejavu story of a love that survives death, travels time and countries, a love for ever and always. Beautiful!!

A love story to fall in love with

Usually reading time travel stories saddens me deeply. Leaving people one loves behind and moving on was always the part that weighed my heart down but not so here. AF does a fabulous job keeping the story upbeat and happy. Time travel is like believing in Santa Clause. You know it's not real and yet that does not reduce the ache of longing for it to be real. I absolutely adored this book

Awesome story by an awesome narrator..

I read this book the first time in 2013, and I loved it then. I listened to it over the past couple of day and loved it again. I had forgotten that there were 2 people inside the same body, Mikah and Hero, not trying to see who the predominate one was but to live harmoniously until Mikah could figure out what was going on. How could Mikah know absolutely everything about Hero’s castle when she was from the 21st century and this was now 1856? Not to mention she’s met the man she’s been dreaming about most of her life.

Sometimes I mention in a review that it seemed everyone was naked because the author never gave her character clothes. In this book Ms. Fortin has described every bit of clothing and everything about every single room imaginable. It was a little much for me but I know a lot of you like all that description. There are pages and pages of it. It was annoying to me but not so much that it took away from the story. It’s simply information that might be helpful to those who love descriptions and a warning to those who don’t like so much of it.

I did like Mikah/Hero and Ian/Jace but I had forgotten about what happened at the end of part 2. I really, really hated that part. BUT it ended up being a perfect, perfect time travel novel. Yeah, I cried and it was worth every single tear.

Besides hating Daphne (and I certainly wasn’t surprised that she was one of the bad guys) I absolutely loved the Duke of Beaumont, Hero's father. With his touch of Alzheimer’s the author gave him the funniest and most loving lines in the book. His interruptions of Hero and Ian was just hilarious.

There was several love scenes, explicit love scenes. There were a few of the usual small swearwords and the F-bomb was dropped 5 times.

As to the narration: I love, love, love Kirsten Potter. She does everything right!

My Heart's in the Highlands

Excellent reading of an interesting romance with time travel elements. Steamy intimate scenes between the protagonists and mystery and plot twists with danger and humor. Unusual and quite good!

Best of Fortin

At first, I thought what the heck did I borrow. As the story progressed and future melded with the past, I got caught up in the story... cried then sympathized. When MC and BFF were getting ready to leave my wow moment happened and my toes curled for remainder of the story.

Best book read since Outlander!

Enjoyed it so much I didn't want to see it end.

I just loved this book! Great story love, great narration - the voices were just fantastic! This reminded me a lot of Mariana by Susanna Kearsley, which I love and recommend if you have not read it yet. The ending was so sweet and special, especially perfect for the roller coaster of emotions these two characters had to deal with. I think this is is my favorite book by Angeline Fortin. A time and place for every laird was really good, but I wasn't to thrilled with Taken, and almost didn't read this one I'm so glad that I did!

Last 1/4 was awesome!

What did you like best about My Heart's in the Highlands? What did you like least?

I wish this story could have been like the last 1/4 of the book. Honestly, I had a hard time finishing it. Twice, I went back to check other peoples reviews. I just didn't see what all the hype was about. It wasn't bad, but I prefer more angst or a faster moving story. Then the end of the book came and WOW, it was REALLY good!

If you’ve listened to books by Angeline Fortin before, how does this one compare?

This is my first book by this author.

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed the narrator. Her voice was pleasant and easy of the ears. Probably one of the reason's I kept listening when I felt like the story was lacking.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

If the whole book would have been like the ending - the last 1/4 of the book. Why didn't the author write the whole book like this?!? It was almost like it was 2 different people writing the book.

Any additional comments?

It is not on my re-read/listen list, but I am glad I finished it. I will give this author another try. This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, &/or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Boom.

A nice love story – a little long

I liked the narration, characters and how it ended. A bit long to get into though, but once things started to roll along it started to move faster. Nice love story

Beautiful love story

What a beautiful love story. This is the 2nd time listening to it and I enjoyed it just as much or more than the first time. I was listening till 3 in the morning and I finished it in a day. And after a while I will listen to it again. I like this narrator I will definitely listen to her again.
