Wonderful!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

To all my friends with kids - yes. Great story for children and parents.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The boy.

What does Kevin Killavey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great reading. My kids loved the voices he used for the various animals.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laughed quite a bit...all of us did.

Any additional comments?

Was really surprised at the one review trashing the narrator. We thought he was great.
I would suggest you listen to the sample and decide for yourself.

A family favorite

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It's an absurd little story book but one I remember fondly from childhood, a different recording on cassette was my first ever audiobook! This one is good too, the weird tale holds up for kids today

fabulous

The kids and I love this book. Ages 2 and up can enjoy it. We have a paper copy with beautiful pictures that they can follow along with.

Monotone narration; fabulous story!

My kids loved this, but I was put off by the narration. So monotone I thought it was an electronic voice at first! Did enjoy his Australian accent, etc later, but the narration was disappointing overall. But a great story for sure!

computer voice?

This is a favorite story of ours, and my children have sat, enthralled, as I read it to them, but this reading is unfortunately extraordinarily dry. it sounds largely like a computer reading. I bought this book at their request, but after two minutes of listening they left the room and found another activity. They often listen to audio books and this is not the normal reaction.
I'd recommend the story 100%, but find a different version.

Monotone...snooze

This narrator has only one voice...speaks a but too quickly and makes it very hard to listen to.

Appalling performance of a good story

Would you try another book from Ruth Stiles Gannett and/or Kevin Killavey?

I would read another Ruth Stiles Gannett book, but I would avoid any children's books performed by Killavey.

My Father's Dragon is one of my daughter's favorite chapter books. I downloaded the audiobook so she could enjoy listening to the book at her leisure. Although I loved reading this book aloud to my daughter, I couldn't stand listening to Killavey's performance. It was snooze-worthy.

What was one of the most memorable moments of My Father's Dragon?

My daughter loves the animals and their quirky ways. Her favorite part is when the lion puts ribbons in his mane.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Killavey removed all excitement, magic and character from the story

Any additional comments?

It's a fun story, but don't download this performance of it.
