Publisher's Summary

Ashly Roberts and Jake Connors are barely 20 when they decide to take the proverbial plunge and walk down the aisle to exchange vows in front of the dearly beloved. Basking in bridal bliss, Ashly feels she is living the perfect fairy tale, until she's faced with a runaway groom, dumped at the altar by bad-boy fiancé, Jake Connors.

Five years later, Jake steps back into her life....

He realizes that being a no-show for their nuptials was the worst mistake of his life. A little older and more mature, he is ready to fight for Ashly's love once again. When Ashly sees him, she can't deny the attraction she feels, but her hormones are overruled by the horror of what he did to her in the past. Nevertheless, Jake's most potent weapon, those dazzling baby blues, ignites a spark in Ashly, no matter how angry she wants to be. She cannot deny the spark, and she only hopes the inferno it ignites will not consume her heart again.

This is NOT erotica. This is a love story and a romance. Ashly is a photographer and took this hot, shirtless picture of Jake before they broke up. He hopes they can rekindle the magic and retake this picture.

This is a two-book series. (All of your questions won't be answered in book 1.)

Enough already

This story has such promise but all Ashley can talk about is how much Jake hurt her. It's been 5 years. Get over it let it go. She' a broken record.!she had a right to be angry but she's sickening

Maybe a second chance

I’m reviewing the audio edition. I have never read/listened to this author before and I had book hangover from a dark story I had just finished when I got a chance to get a free copy of this story. This is my voluntary review. From the blurb I thought it might be a lighter romance. So far I’ve been right. It is a left at the alter/second chance story. Right from the start I could feel the emotions of Ashley but as the story progressed I started to feel bad for Jake. They were young when they decided to get married but Jake got cold feet. Since this is only part of the story I can only comment on this section. I wanted Ashley to get over it already. Either forgive Jake or don’t. She seems to be happy dwelling in reminding him how much he hurt her over and over. There is really no drama or major scenes so far. As they are trying to collect on her mother’s will that seems to be the story so far.

So so

It was an ok story. No real drama that grabbed you. Cliffhanger ending that drives me nuts to begin with! It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good enough to make me want to rush right out to get the next book to find out what happens. The characters never really bring you in close enough to be invested in them. Not worth a credit, but I was able to get the Kindle version first to get the Audible at a discount. Meh

Sweet romance, with an interesting twist.

Jake and Ashly were high school sweethearts. Sure they were “it” for each other, they decide to marry at the young age of 20. Jake decides he’s not ready for this kind of commitment, and leaves Ashly at the altar.

Five years later, Ashly is not over the loss of Jake. Her heart’s still guarded and her radar is always up. Her mother’s passing leaves her further unmoored. Ashly discovers that her inheritance has a string attached- she will inherit her mother’s fortune only if she goes on a life-changing vacation around the world… with Jake.

Jake wants the vacation and the money…. But he wants Ashly more. Her walls are still up and she keeps pushing him back, but the trip is part of the package.

I loved the descriptions of the vacation spots, and the banter was realistic as the former couple grapples with what they may mean to each other now. I really enjoyed this story, and can’t wait to get to book 2 to find out the rest.
